I dont care whether Iti stays or leaves. He can pack up and go to the Southwestern Australian Independent Basketball Association League or whatever he wants for all I care. Withers was the one I was scared about leaving, but it looks like he will be back for his senior year. Most likely all will remain good in Niner Land.
btw that site has proved to be pretty accurate over the last few years, so if in a few months they still dont have any Niners on the list, we should feel pretty comfortable that no one is leaving
Just because Iti isn’t listed as being drafted doesn’t mean he won’t declare. I could definitely see him declare, sign an agent, and not get drafted.
I would love to see him stay for four years, develop a game, and be a mid to late first round pick. It won’t happen though.

Very true NUN. I can definitely see that happening.
And I dont want it to sound like I wish anything bad for Iti, honestly I hope he stays and develops into a solid player. But we all know his heart isn’t with this team, and he has proven that his head ins’t screwed on straight. That Courtney Rosegreen has got him seeing dollar signs and nothing else.
tarheels will suck next year if that holds, suprised May wasn’t on list but they had marvin williams #1? high school class must be weak for once.
marvin williams has repeatedly been talked about as the #1 player in the draft (at worst top 5), hell he would have gone top 5 last year
damn i hope he stays, he will be unstoppable in about one-two more years
Most overrated player on that list…Julius Hodge…he’s not a great shooter, doesn’t have anything resembling an nba body, won’t be a rebounding factor at all…and is an average defensive player at best. He’s a product of wolfpack hype…And may I add to the Iti comments…I hope he does get an agent and declare…let’s get someone in the middle who can do something other than glare and bitch at the refs as he walks off the court each game at the 5 minute mark with his standard…2 fouls…2 points(via a dunk) and 1 rebound!
Iti will never be an NBA’er. He’s never going to be able to move through a screen or rotate. Almost every inside basket against the Niners happens when Iti doesn’t give help or lets an offensive rebounder sneak through.
Martin still has to understand how to box out, but inside baskets aren’t his fault all the time. With our trapping schemes, we need to have better weakside rotation for them to be more efficient and eliminate the layups
What a typical scout would say on Iti:
He has very slow lateral quickness, even for a center. He needs to work on his technique defensively. Doesn’t do a good job holding position in the post, needs to continue to get stronger. Hasn’t developed any type of discernable jump shot. Can’t put the ball on the floor, can’t face up his defender. Not a good rebounder for his size. Some bouts with foul trouble but has improved. Has a half hook with little consistency. Takes the ball up strong for dunks.
The majority of these things can be fixed with time and effort. Martin needs to stay in school.
They have Josh Boone going to the bulls…That means they would have, Deng(DUKE), Duhon(DUKE), Ben Gordon(UCONN), and Josh Boone(UCONN). All four of which played in the NCAA 2004 touney against each other, and were probably the two best teams in the touney…the Bulls would be the allstar team from DUKE vs UCONN in last years tourney.
I still wish Eddie could go NBA…dude deserves it. EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!!!
ill say it again, we need to stop bashing martin. he has improved from last year. we knew that when he came to charlotte that he was a raw player. id still rather have him than not have him.
Got to agree that I hope Iti sticks around for 2 more seasons. He has definitely improved, hustles, cheers for his mates when not in the game, has bulked up and jumps better. He has 2 double-doubles this year, and several games with double-figure points, and some bigtime blocks.
I hope the experiences of last summer have shown him he has a long way to go before he ready to get paid to play this game. With a continued good attitude, good coaching, lots of practice and lots of time with Preston Green, he could be a dominant center in the A-10 in 2 years.
GO NINERS!!!

[/b]Chisox, I used to think the same thing about Iti but not anymore. He may still leave to play pro ball early BUT this year he does seem to really care about the team and WINNING. He has played with intensity and supported his teammates even when he's playing poorly or not in the game. Obviously, he has the potential to be a very good college player. It must be frustrating as hell for him to not be able to be more consistent.
Also, I have talked to him on several occassions and he is friendly and enjoys signing autographs, talking to the kids, etc. Of course, he could be completely different away from the fans but he at least presents a positive attitude and seems to enjoy being here.
That’s my take on Iti. I’m sure many would disagree but I like the guy and am glad he’s here.
I’ve got nothing against Martin except that I think that he’s barely improved his game from last year.Yes,he beefed up a little bit,but whoever did that nba scouting report on him was 99% correct. The reason he’s on the sidelines cheering for his teammates is because he doesn’t have the technique or the muscle to get rebounding position and, therefore ,is always fouling guys to try to get the ball. He’s got terrible footwork,he should be blocking twice as many shots as he does…and when he does block one…it usually goes 10 rows deep, the really good shotblockers know how to save it.Has he improved from last year? Maybe…a little…but I agree with whoever posted that his head got filled with $ signs. The very fact that he could even have considered going pro after last year…ARE YOU KIDDING ME…YEAH I COULD SEE IT NOW…SHAQ MAKES HIS MOVE TO THE BASKET…GOES UP FOR THE JAM…AND ITI SWATS IT AWAY…RIIIIIGHT! We can all agree to disagree on this one, that’s what makes the board interesting. My point of view is,come crunch time this year,I want Nance in the middle.

I have a hard time imagining that could occur.

[/b]Actually Iti is more lean than last year based on a new program to help him get quicker and more lift. Last offseason, they were trying to bulk him up. He doesn't hold weight on very well according to Greene in a halftime interview last year...which makes it even more difficult. I agree with some of your other comments, although I think he has improved.
I’m sorry, Julius Hodge is going to get drafted and will have a successful career in the NBA, he’ll play point guard, he plays a 2 or 3 at State because that’s where he fits in the offense, given the right system he’ll be an All-Star, he is 6-7" athletic, can rebound, pass, and he isn’t a headcase. He can score, just look at his scoring average in the ACC over the past 3 years, he was the #2 prospect in his high school class nationally his senior year, Hodge will be a solid player and a 1st round pick
