NC teams RPI

2 Wake Forest. Great guard play.
7 Duke. College basketball’s standard bearer.
8 NC-Chapel Hill. I hate this team a little too much.
37 CHARLOTTE. Team Goodguy rides again!
81 Davidson. Way to go Bob McKillop! Beating the bejesus out of the SoCon.
104 UNC Wilmington. Always a quality program.
117 North Carolina State. Big four? HA!
137 UNC Greensboro. SoCon’s second best.
166 Gardner-Webb. 1st place in the Atlantic Sun.
193 East Carolina. I think I’m gonna be sick.
213 Appalachian State. Remember losing to these clowns a couple years ago?
242 UNC Asheville. How on earth was that a close game this year?
274 High Point. Young team, I think, I dunno, who cares?
296 Elon. They used to be called the Fighting Christians, now they’re the Phoenix
303 Western Carolina. These dudes punked ECU.
310 North Carolina A&T. That’s the game(ā€˜03) where I was named 2,000,000 fan.
313 Campbell. The Fightin’ Camels have seen better days.

North Carolina A&T. That's the game('03) where I was named 2,000,000 fan.

what was that about?

Also, I wish we’d schedule UNCG instead of A+T. Both are in Greensboro and less than 90 minutes up 85. But A+T sucks, and UNCG usually has a half-way decent team and makes the tourney occasionally.

Last year’s drubbing of NCA&T is where I was named 2,000,000th fan. It was pretty exciting, and my friends still tease me about it. I got to go out on the court and was presented with a framed picture, a polo shirt, and lower level tickets to UC, Louisville, and Marquette.

As in, the 2 millionth person ever to attend a Niners game?

yessir. 2,000,000th home attendee

The best thing to happen to our program was the advent of the RPI and being on national TV and beating teams like cincy and loserville. That, my friends, was the beginning of the end of the acc/big four myth of being soooooo superior in this state and brought on the positive exposure that our program deserves. No, we’re not top 10 yet, but everyone with any sense at all can see the truth and that is we’re not chumps either that acc sniffers would like everyone to believe we are.

Never as a home and home series, or only if they played in the Greensboro Coliseum and I doubt they could draw enough to justify the rental fee. A&T's Corbett Center seats 6,500 and UNC-G's Fleming Gym holds 2,320.

McCaffery doesn’t get the best talent but his teams always play smart.

Good info Pork Chop…Let me add some additional information. Friends are often surprised how strong our attendance is. The average attendance for D-I is about 3k. I think we do very well compared to others. Here are last yrs figures.

NC-Chapel Hill (20,802) no surprise here
NC State (14,576) should be more, they are probably disappointed
Wake Forest (13,197) they have improved through the years
Duke (9,314) could sell more if arena was bigger
Charlotte (7,381) VERY STRONG!!!
UNCW (6,018) I didn’t know they were this good, they are up and coming
ECU (5,307) could do better if they ever won, don’t ever see it

AVG BELOW 3K
NC A&T (2,844)
Davidson (2,737)
Appalachian State (2,378)
Gardner-Webb (1,833)
UNCG (1,028)
Western Carolina (1,653)
High Point (1,551)
UNCA (948)
Elon (921)
Campbell (832)

I’m pretty sure ECU’s arena only holds like 6k. So…it’s not really that weak an attendance number.

Minges capacity is 7500 from what appears to be a well maintained link.

World Stadiums

you know what is weak about those attendance numbers. Davidson has a student body of 1800 and faculty/staff around 200 (the faculty staff # is a guess). There is around 7,000 people who live in town. Not a bad draw. We have a student body around 18K and a faculty/staff of 1000. there is around 30,000 - 50,000 who call university city home. Why can’t we fill our building every time!

Gang green needs to grow. Get more campus traditions started. that would help This switch to the A-10 will give us some short term attendance hits but since some of our out of state students come from the northeast maybe they will relate better to some of the A-10 teams that will be paying us a visit.

I’d bet that of our out of state students there are more from an A-10 area then a CUSA area.

Very true 49er1. One problem though. The press throughout the state (& sadly also here in Charlotte) have for years continued to intentionally promote the "Big 4 perception" even though they knew it wasn't true. I'm talking about past years, not this year.

Because of this, the avid basketball fans knows all about us but the average fan has no clue. Although we are known as Charlotte on a national basis, the tarhole laden press of this state still insists on referring to us as UNCC (David Poole is not the only jerk to ever attend school in chapel hill).

Zone, look at the numbers this way, by percentage of seats filled.

100% Duke – 9,314 capacity, 9,314 average
98.7% UNC Wilmington – 6,100 capacity, 6,018 average
95.6% UNC Chapel Hill – 21,750 capacity, 20,802 average
88.3% Campbell – 942 capacity, 832 average
88.0% Wake Forest – 15.000 capacity, 13,197 average
86.2% UNC Asheville – 1,100 capacity, 948 average
81.1% Charlotte – 9,105 capacity, 7,381 average
73.9% NC State - 19,722 capacity, 14,576 average
66.3% East Carolina – 8,000 capacity, 5,307 average
60.5% High Point – 2,565 capacity, 1,551 average
48.0% Davidson – 5,700 capacity, 2,737 average
46.0% Elon – 2,000 capacity, 921 average
44.3% UNC Greensboro – 2,320 capacity, 1,028 average
42.4% North Carolina A&T – 6,700 capacity, 2,844 average
36.7% Gardner-Webb – 5,000 capacity, 1,833 average
28.7% Appalachian State – 8.300 capacity, 2,378 average
21.1% Western Carolina – 7,826 capacity, 1,653 average

DUDE MINGES AND DOWDY-FICKLEN STADIUM ROCK!!!

Dude, so does proper punctuation and capitalization!

88.3% Campbell – 942 capacity, 832 average

Is that the smallest in Div. 1? Most high school can seat at least that many.

Campbell is getting ready to build the Pope Convocation Center which will have 3,000 permanent seats for basketball and the ability to add temporary seats as needed.

Campbell

Off topic, but looking at Campbell’s web site, the Camel Closet. It puts Charlotte online merchandise to shame. :frowning:

Agreed about the Campbell gear. How hard could it be for the bookstore to slap Charlotte on a shirt like this and sell online? No, instead we have to have a race car or something to that effect.

Anyone have an attendance figure for # of people who show up to games vs number of people enrolled in the school? That’s where we get put to shame. As someone said, a 2,000 student school like Davidson can still get over 2,500 people to every game(that’s over 125% of the enrollment showing up to games, compared to our ~38% attendance to enrollment number).
