I would love to know Mitâs suggestions to fix the problems with college athletics instead of hearing him constantly discount anyone who does propose a solution. Oh, thatâs right Mit doesnât want a solution because that would mean the sole purpose of his livelihood would no longer be necessary.
I donât think we have a problem, just a new normal.
I disagree. The new normal is not sustainable. It is therefore a problem.
Pretty sure Mit wants a solution. Afterall, he was a college basketball player himself and has a hoopster daughter who is already receiving P5 offers as a HS freshman.
From a HERO Sports profile last year:
The dust will eventually settle,â Winter predicts. âTo get there, we will most likely see a model with some form of negotiation or bargaining between athletes in specific sports and some entity representing the teams the athletes are playing on⌠Athletes on the teams that are part of the league entity will be negotiating the rules on things like player compensation and player movement with this new entity. It would look very similar to the models we see in the NFL, NBA, and other pro leagues, but still contain some elements unique to college athletics. I think a model like that would bring the stability to college athletics that people are looking for. We might need some new federal laws or to amend some to make this model a reality.â
Turned out it was an April fools joke.

Some sense? Are the tides finally turning and will the government reel some of this back in?
We have to just hang in there as fans until this getâs fixed. Everyone knows this isnât sustainable
Seems like a solution looking for a problem.
Whatâs the issue?
also there will have to be exceptions as always.
Like for people that go into the military.
Military, religious missions, and maternity leave are the only exemptions.
Jones actually seeking a 7th year of playing but thatâs still a lot. Injuries have limited him to 105 games so no telling what NCAA will decide. Have been inconsistent in previous medical cases.
