Niners nearly $500,000 in the black for '04-05.

Coastal Carolina spent just over $2.1 million on football, revenues matched expenses exactly. Funny how that happens sometimes.

I posted about this several weeks ago Mike. Memphis somehow broke even too, even when their attendance in the FedEx building was terrible.

Oops. Feel free to delete it, then. I just thought it was interesting and didn’t come across it until today.

No Mike, I think it is worth repeating. We don’t have a clue as to what athletic programs cost and where the money is coming from and going out. This is good data especially to see what football costs since many here are interested in that debate.

Per today’s Observer, we are $750,000.00 short annually of fully funding the athletic programs we currently have…

Good article. What do schools get for reaching full certification???

How about this for improvement?
Even so, Charlotte awarded about $2.3 million in athletics scholarships this school year, compared to about $750,000 in 1994-95, nearly a three-fold increase.
The accounting tricks that UT pulls to expense the entire $70 million they pull in annually are absolutely hysterical.

If they were ever forced to show an uncooked cash flow statement, there’d be an outcry from the fanbase. Also might have a couple of :ahem" discrepencies… :wink wink, nudge nudge:

I would bet they are using some sort of special accounting treatment for this. No way do revenue and expenses match exactly.

I clicked on the University of North Carolina expecting to get a list of the athletic programs of all 16 UNC system schools together and did not get what I expected. This is an error.

Coastal probably generated MORE revenue than expenses in football, but finds ways to burn money, to show a break even status with no profit.
