Mike Hill the Sani-Can Porta John Director of Athletics has a nice ring to it.

In fairness, he would probably do that for that kind of money.

clt says Pat needs to learn where Bojangles is HQed

Pat knows NC and Bojangles already a sponsor of ACC and Wolfpack athletics.

If private equity firms are actually willing to put their money into college athletics then rich people have run out of investment ideas.

This is a match made in hell.

It will backfire for both the schools and the investors.

Honestly it’s probably going to be worse for the investors.

How are they going to extract more value out of this product?

The juice has been squeezed.

My guess is that they will invest the money, then securitize it, and then let people become “owners” in their favorite teams. They’ll probably even have fancy materials and things to make you feel legit. PE money won’t be tied up in sports for long, just like most things with PE, it’s invest, pump, dump.

When will taxpayers demand a piece of the action in regards to state supported schools?

I think that our league will sell naming rights.

Too easy of a revenue stream.

They do it for the EPL.

These are just loans. I’m not sure what is so novel here other than the surprise I find that these big schools have never had to take out debt before.

Am I missing something?

And I’m too lazy to read it.

Are they getting better than market rates for this debt?

They don’t want debt repayments. The PE will be looking for a cut of future earnings I am certain.
