NCAA Tourney.........

someone pick my drunk ass up in Maryland then damn it!!
I would have 4 of us ready to roll.

I’ve requested a few quotes from some local charters. The way to go would have been the ā€œDeluxe Mini Coachā€ which holds up to 30 people but they don’t exceed 150 miles one way. So we’d have to get the big daddy bus which is fine IF there are enough people committed. Doesn’t have to be just the people that post here. Friends, family members, other Niner fans, etc. could all take part.

Oh well…it’s just an idea. I do look forward to hearing back to see how much it would cost.

Anyone want to guess the cost of chartering a bus from Charlotte to Nashville or Cleveland? I couldn’t begin to guess.

Called USABUS to get a rough estimate for you all.
Talked to a guy who said it would be around 5400.00 to go to N-ville.
It would leave early Thursday morning and come back late Sunday night or whenever Charlotte’s game is over.
Bus holds 47- 60 people. Get 55 people be around 100.00 a man.
Could also use bus to take everyone out on town any night.
Just a rough estimate.
Thats just to N-ville.
Who in the hell knows where we are going.

and it looks like a nice ass bus.

$100 per person isn't that bad considering what you'd pay in gas to get there yourself and the luxury of not having to be behind a wheel. That's assuming we could get 55 people. One place I'm waiting to hear back from has a bus that holds exactly 49 people...how ironic. :)

Just difficult planning something like this when you have no idea where you’re even heading to.

Yeah, I was checking those out. Did you notice the limo charter bus on there? :toast:

Right…not knowing where we are going is going to make it difficult to plan this at the last second.
The guy at the company said buses go really quick this time of year.
Who knows.
I will be driving myself since I am up in Md anyway. Would be nice to see a bunch of niner fans make the trip on the bus though.

Are certain locations already marked for certain games? On ESPN, Lunardi’s bracketology only has Charlotte as having 2 of the 1/16 games and the 2 8/9 games. So is the seeding already determined for each location and it’s just a matter of which seeding we get?

That is just a total guess, it will not be determined till the selection committee meets.

With the pod system that's used by the selection committee now, the top 16 teams (the 1-4 seeds in each region) are "protected." They're placed as close to home as possible for first and second-round matchups. Right now, three of the teams competing for 1 seeds are from North Carolina -- Wake, Duke, and UNC-CH. Duke's chances look relatively slim right now, but they could improve their chances if they beat the Tar Heels next Sunday and do well in the ACC tournament. It looks like two of those teams could end up as 1 seeds, and if they did, Charlotte is the closest they could be placed to home. If two of those teams end up as 1 seeds, they will play 16 seeds in Charlotte. The other half of their bracket is the 8-9 game, so under that scenario (which is the scenario most people are assuming right now), there would be two 1-16 games and two 8-9 games in Charlotte. However, if only one of those teams ends up with a 1 seed and another ends up with a 2 seed, then the matchups would be different. One region would have a 1-16 and 8-9 game here, and another region would have a 2-15 game and a 7-10 game.

So basically with the way things seem to be panning out - We will not be placed in Charlotte or Nashville. Wake and Carolina would be placed here, and then Duke in Nashville. Unless Nashville did the 2/15 and 7/10 and a 4/13 and 5/12.

I’ll be there. I’ve got frequent flyers to burn if necessary but the bus would be fun too.

I spent about 14 years organizing and running about 3 bus weekend ski trips a year. In the 90’s it was about $1600 for a nice 47 passenger bus for about 540 miles roundtrip from Friday through Sunday, so the $2100 price is not a bad deal considering the price of gas now and the distance involved.

You need to save a few seats for the coolers too, you bunch of damn drunks.
