4 0f the top 12 teams from North Carolina. Outstanding!

Followed the coach’s poll and dropped us out of any votes at all. Oh well, we will play ourselves back into the top 4-5 “others receiving votes” category and then lose a game again. My money says we will go 5-0 until the UAB game to get up closer to the top 25 again, and then blow that game.

Give your fellow sports writers some love, Mike. Coming off the Bama loss, the 49ers get five votes last week (along with UAB), go 2-0 on the week and get no votes this week, while the Blazers still get three votes in a loss to Oklahoma State.

I really thought Marquette would sneak in there. I guess they need one more win against top 25

5 ACC teams in the top 12, amazing… 3 Con-USA teams in the top 26. We didn’t receive a single vote :frowning: Still no opponents in the top 10, though Louisville has a shot, but they don’t look that impressive to me.

Yeah, they have to actually play someone or that undefeated record is meaningless. The AP poll shouldn't reward them for their soft schedule.

:cough cough #12 NCSU cough cough:

And POOF! we’re gone. <_<

Same stuff, different year. :pout:

Please don't be so negative. There is no reason to bash the team.

Let me shatter the illusion for you, they’re not.

This poll once again proves that it’s a popularity contest and completely and totally inaccurate.

As I stated, we will know after Washington if it is an illusion or not. Right now they are beating their cupcakes by 40 while we beat ours by 10.

A win against Arizona this coming Saturday will probably do it.

So, if we had beaten Bama, we would also have been top 10?

What you said about the Washington game is true, but I think you’re missing the point. They did nothing so far to earn their status and they’re 10th. Compare them to Marquette who isnt even ranked and explain the disparity. I think you’ve overstated their non-conf performance quite a bit:

NCSU

That link is to summarize who theyve beaten, but it also shows their rpi to be about 56. That’s a lot closer to where they really stand pending this Washington game.

BTW, my next door neighbor is a diehard Pack fan & alum, and he thinks the Pack is overrated and going down hard to Washington. He’s tired of Sendek scheduling so many patises.

I think they’re non-conference schedule is pathetic, normally a game against Washington would be a joke, but now they’re good. I think Herb Figures the conference schedule is so tough take he can get away with a weak non-conference. Though you have to wonder if they played some tougher Non-Conf games they might do better in the tourney.

As far as there ranking this year it is based largely on finishing second in the ACC last year and returning the ACC POY.
