new laptop advice

None of the desktop PCs you quoted use 8-core Xeon chips, which the Mac desktops do.

I’ve been well, thanks.

Some of you guys have had some shi**y luck with your computers. I was like Chisox. Had a Dell Latitude for 5 years, with practically no issues.

Actually, really the only problems I’ve ever had with any computer was more because of viruses than with hardware. I did have a monitor burn out once. The virus problem is more attributed to the fact that attackers have historically only attacked Windows products, because there are more of them. But I recently read where Apple specific viruses are on the rise.
Normmm, stay away from those websites and you won’t have those problems. :p
I thought it was because of that poor guy in Nigeria I helped out.
I thought it was because those “adult” sites don’t have your best interest at heart.
It’s not porn that causes issues. It is only when you look at gay porn. I carry my Dell all over the country beating and banging it up along the way. The only issues I’ve had is maybe 1 hard drive failure and I connected to a bad projector which killed the off board video on a laptop. Other than that the Dell’s and Toshiba’s that I’ve used have been pretty good. I do turn mine off during turbulence if it gets to be too much. I don’t have much experience with Mac’s, but my kid just got one from his high school. I build my own desktops and I think I can build a faster desktop with Linux or Windows than I can buy a MAC if the price is equal. Those little Chinese people aren’t the only ones that can assemble components.

You can put a xeon in a desktop as well, it’s just rare that anyone would want to. The only thing they are particularly good for is a file server. It would not help the majority of dekstop applications. I am sure there are some specific ones.

But yeah, I could build a Xeon PC pretty cheap. I had an old one a few years ago that I picked up second hand that I was using as a hardware firewall. Kind of a waste of electricity, honestly. Complete overkill.

They are expensive, but I need all the hardware I can get for manipulating and rendering 4k video files. The Mac Pro is solid. Just like all the Macs used to be, before the stupid consumer i-toy garbage sullied the entire company mission.
