I was in the bookstore the other day. The “Clearance” Rack had probably 20-30 kid sized Football Jerseys. Quality was on par with what you’d find at Target - so nothing special. I believe the price as marked was almost $50 a piece, marked down from like $70… Freaking outrageous.
It is egregiously offensive how little effort the school puts into ensuring quality merchandise hits the shelves.

It is even more offensive with the prices they charge how little they care about things being bought. The merchandise in the bookstore has to have the lowest turnover rate in history. The same things are in the bookstore now as when I started because nobody can pay those types of prices. I’m under the belief that the more green is bought, the more green is worn and school spirit rises as more and more people rock the green on campus and around Charlotte.

Bookstore is over the top expensive. Inconsistent color schemes and green. Difficult to find decent product. No small, mom and pop retailers making items.
I’m not sure what it is but it has to be intentional.

To follow up on this, Charlotte uses CLC. Which doesn’t seem bad. So do Duke, Wake, UNCG and UNC-CH. App uses Learfield. Learfield does App, Meredith, WSSU, Elon, Davidson, etc. So shared resources probably helps them all work together.
Here’s the odd thing though, Charlotte has 189 approved vendors. I thought that was a lot until I counted that App has 303.
I’m really curious if B&N has a Chartwells style grip on merchandising at Charlotte. Are we limiting vendors and therefore limiting gear? There are only 2 reasons to limit vendors.

This is the only thing I can think of. The B&N/campus prices are ridiculous, but with no competition, and the impossibility of competition, why worry?
I was in Murrells Inlet for a few days last week and weekend. Went up to Dirty Myrtle a few times to shop and it seemed that I saw more Charlotte gear than ever before. Visited Coastal Grand Mall, 501 Outlets, Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. I saw atleast a few Charlotte items in all of these places. Out of a total of ~10 sporting goods stores, there was only 1-2 that had NO Charlotte gear. None of the others had a lot, but more than I have seen in the past down there.

Target at Northlake has a ton of Niner gear shirts, sweatshirts, hats, flags, a clock, and what looks office pad for your feet…I was very surprised.
Yeah, usually it’s just tarhole and Panthers stuff there.
Over the past year I’ve seen them carry a decent amount Niner gear but not in the amount/variety I saw on Saturday. Either way this is a good sign.
