From reading it, I thought the idea was to compete with the NIT. So really team #66 could go to NIT or whateverthe****thisiscalled.

That’s what I got out of it too. Plus it sounded like they only want teams with winning records (which the NIT was stupid enough to do away with). It will potentially water down the NIT and I don’t see a need for another one but if they do it right (since the NIT keeps making stupid decisions now that they’re owned by the NCAA) I could see this as somewhat of a good thing.
I agree with whoever said that they’d rather see a tourney of teams that lost in the first round of the NCAA’s. They are more deserving of playing in the post season.
