Offensive coordinator

I was pleased with the offensive this year so I like the move!

If it took this long, it definitely wasn’t his first choice

Dec. 29 was the Atkins announcement so it’s been less than 30 days.

But I agree in that he hired a guy who he played for and he had coached with for one year. Healy had plenty of time to form an opinion on his ability to be a D1 OC. In that context it would seem he wasn’t fully convinced.

But Healy wasn’t our first choice and he has worked out thus far.

Maybe he just wanted to turnover every stone. It is not a bad thing to interview multiple candidates and go with your guy because you think he is the best.

In addition to that, he had mentioned in an interview the biggest mistake he made last time hiring candidates was moving too quickly.

Taking his time and making sure he got what he thought was the best candidate seems like a good approach to me. I don’t think that means it wasn’t his top choice.

Healy has mentioned on numerous occasions how big trust is with him. I’m not surprised to see him promote from within given his big emphasis of going with a staff that you know and trust.
