clt says cincy has removed the a from their field, can we do the same with the cusa logo?
Not until July
Another reason to expand, hosting high school state championship games. Charlotte offers more hotel rooms and better accommodations for the average family compared to a place like Chapel Hill. Plus, we need to expose more people to our campus.
Iām obviously from the east but itās unfair no champ games in the Charlotte area and JRS would be perfect. Same goes for all sports not just football.
It is criminal what the NCHSAA has done historically with championships matchups in revenue sports (basketball and football). They have all been played in ACC arenas and stadiums. Wake Forest and Duke (private schools) have hosted public state high school championships. Charlotte and ECU have not. ECU complained about it and was rewarded with a couple of semi final matchups in basketball. None of these football championships would fill 2/3 of the Rich. It is big enough now. Halton has always been large enough.
Why is this a big deal? You get a free campus visit without it being " an official NCAA visit" from some of the best teams/players in the state. I guess the ACC just needs additional advantages over the G5⦠according to the NCHSAA⦠It is a pet peeve of mine⦠I will move along now.
And you think this is not intentional?
Yea, we could have a one hundred thousand seat stadium and it wouldnāt make any difference so far as who hosts high school playoffs.
Please expand the stadium. If nothing more than temp seats, expand the stadiumā¦please.
clt says the high school championships should be at the higher ranked team,
We should be hosting the state playoffs at minimum.
clt says Charlotte cannot handle having 500-1000 visitors, we donāt have the hotel rooms or infrastructure
Speaking of high school football, watching some of the East Lincoln vs Northern Nash game in Raleigh and must have an NFL officiating crew since these refs apparently donāt know what constitutes a catch at this level as well.
Thereās a reason we sometimes chant āHigh School Refsā.
BTW, congrats to East Lincoln.
That QB from East Lincoln could really spin it.
I was in hopes expansion would begin as soon 22 season ended. Doesnāt look like its happening. Anyone got any updates. Poggi and the guys he is bringing in deserve more than a 15,000 seat stadium.
If I were Hill, I would expand after this coming season. We will be hosting ECU in 2024 and CHeat in 2025.
If attendance spikes this coming fall, I would be prepared to bring in the stands like they did for App and leave them up.
Iāve been told the fund raising has gone very very well thus far and they are waiting to hear back from a few sources. Weāve gotten sizable donations from people and companies that have not been associated with donating to athletics, that is huge. I know weāve pitched to some pretty big names as well but it sure what the outcomes were.
The hold up could be not having enough on hand yet to issue the bonds. Or they may be waiting to just have more committed. Or they could even be waiting for rate environment to come down before issuing bonds or just having total cash on hand to to not need the bonds. Hard to speculate when we donāt know what the build threshold is. The challenge is they could have gotten a 30 mil gift but itās a million a year over 30 years. So while the total is great it makes things a challenge in the present.
Yeah this is what I expect. If they are still working on funding the nice temps will be installed.
It just needs to happen. Comparing the images I posted, even with the temp seats, shows how incomplete the Rich looks without the full expansion.
The other issue is that I am waiting on expansion to increase my # of season tickets. I wanna see where I can afford to get 4.
Then there is the extreme best (worst) case scenario: we have a really great non conference 2023 season against a terrifically hard schedule, and suddenly even temp stands arenāt enough for demand #Biffeffect
Yeah I get it. AD is not different than a family budget though. Dreams vs Reality. Based on the numbers I heard I expected us to break ground this off-season but Iām guessing those numbers are over a longer time period than I had thought.
Another consideration is I know Will was involved with landing some of the donations. No idea if his firing impacted some of the commitments in the short term.
No doubt Biff will make an impact there too. Just takes time to land money like that. I think I mentioned it but the recent naming of the architecture school dialogue started at the bowl game in the bahamas. The donation came in last year.
