Observer: 49ers coach seeks to restore passion

Lipsitz, who was an assistant at national power Ohio State the past four seasons, and director of the Ohio Premier Soccer Club the past eight years, said he wants to restore passion for the Charlotte women’s program.

“First, I’m a Carolina boy at heart and I’m excited to be coming home,” said Lipsitz, who graduated from Chapel Hill High in 1983, and North Carolina in 1988. He earned a master’s degree in education from Ohio State in 1998.

“I’ve been saying for quite a few years that I wanted to get back to North Carolina. I loved what I’ve been doing at Ohio State, but Charlotte is a tremendous university with great leadership.”

“The facilities are tremendous and there’s no doubt they want to win, and more importantly they want a positive student-athlete experience.”

I’ll give him a pass on the Chapel Hill connection.
