But at Thursday night’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers he says, “This little feller in a red shirt said I needed to sit down, and I said, ‘I’ve been doing this for 14 years. You got to be kidding.’ Next thing I know there was a posse of cops, a deputy sheriff and Charlotte police escorted me to security.”
And we wonder why the crowd is the way it is???

If he could find something to cheer for in that game, he is the last person that needs to be kicked out.

I agree. Our crowds are usually an embarassment - you feel like you’re doing something wrong when you stand up and cheer. I always sit in the upper decks, so that’s how it is up there at least.

I’m glad the guy is fighting back. I hope we do get updates like they say.

Unbelievable !!! It’s a football game, not a play. You are supposed to stand and cheer. Then again, there could be more to the story (possible involving alcohol?).

I had an obnoxious Dallas fan in my face a few years ago. Dallas was kicking our butt and he was harassing all the Panther fans sitting around him. I asked him when he lived in Dallas and when he replied he never lived there I snickered and told him it was pretty obvious. All kinds of **** broke loose after that. Long story short… he was eventually removed from the stadium, but by then most Panther fans in that section had moved away.

“You can’t get drunk on $7 beers. No, I was not drunk at all,” he said.
Ive seen this happen many of times. Me and my buddies went to a game about 2 years ago, and the people behind us told us to sit down, we turned around and told them to STFU and stand up…they argued amongst themselves for a little bit, then ended up standing and enjoying it as we would turn around and high five them after every good play.

I've had it happen too. There are times you just need to stand. Once they understand that, things are usually ok.

Also… I know he said he wasn’t drunk, but how many of us have made that mistake? I know I have.

whine & cheese

I hate it when somebody is like “don’t stand up”- it pisses me off, sometimes you need to stand up

Then again, it does get annoying when there is nothing going on and you only have two people standing in the section and it blocks the view of most of the people

whine & cheese
Are you saying your a whine and cheese fan? Your supposed to stand at football games when you're team is on defense or when you're team does something good. I got caught bringing my own licker into the stadium and they thru me out one time.

No I am saying a Panthers crowd is a whine & cheese crowd.

If someone is standing pointlessly it can get very annoying, but the rules are simple, stand up on all defensive 3rd downs, even most of the offensive 3rd downs. Standing is ok for the whole 4th quarter on defense in a close game, offense is it ok after a big play or during a big play, but you have to be quiet to help the home team QB out before the snap.

I am not “anti-standing” but come on, folks. There is a difference between the people that get excited on major plays and 3rd downs and the assclowns who stand up in the middle of EVERY_SINGLE_PLAY thus blocking my view.

Also, in my opinion, there is NOTHING that is exciting enough during PRESEASON that makes me feel the need to stand and flip out in excitement. Seriously folks, it’s a glorified scrimmage. Don’t embarrass yourselves.

I stand during entire basketball/football games. People who need seats are either too old or too fair weather. This isnt the theatre, and it sure as hell isn’t golf.

That being said I can understand not standing at a panthers game, y’all are terrible.

When I was in high school / college, I would stand the entire time out of respect and solidarity for my fellow students playing out on the court. But you know what? I’m graduated now and I want to sit in the seat I paid for. It’s tiring to stand up for hours, and frankly I can be just as loud while I’m sitting in my upper-deck seat as when I’m standing.

Same goes for football games…I have PSL’s with my uncle and we have gone to every game together for YEARS. You know what? The players DO NOT CARE if we stand. They have no idea what we’re doing all the way up in the upper deck Cheering during the right times is appreciated. Standing up? What difference does it make except making everyone tired and irritable?

-STAND UP!

-but I’m Le Tired…

-So take a nap…THEN STAND UP!

we have had family PSLs since day 1, my name is engraved on one of those cat statues. Not once have I ever seen anyone ejected for cheering or standing in the 70 or so games I have been to since 95.

I have seen alot of drunk puking foul mouthed fools taken out, and I love the new system where you can text security. Everyone in 527 stands on 3rd down and when its appropriate. But you dont stand for 60 mins of football- in PRO ANY STADIUM (maybe the endzones for the Raiders)

this is such BS. Every crowd now is wine and cheese because 90% of the lower tix are corporate owned and passed out to clients. Its not a Charlotte thing.

Cowboy fans can be forced to sit down easily. Its been 4500+ days since they won a playoff game. 1996

The lower level of BofA Stadium is very wine and cheese, but that could be said about most newer stadiums, just based on the fact of how ticket prices are determined.

I’ve been to a few Panthers games and sat in the lower level and got the sense that people were there more to be seen than to watch a football game. People were dressed in regular clothing, not even team jerseys or paraphernalia. One friend of mine said you see a similar type of crowd at Soldier Field for Bears games in the lower level.

My NFL experiences are mostly Jets games, where every ticket is pretty much the same price, so the wine and cheese types aren’t isolated in the best seats. This will change significantly with the new stadium next season.

But like I said earlier, standing on 3rd down is probably the limit or maybe during other huge plays, standing the entire game is strictly a college student section phenomenon.

Ditto on all that Metro, except I’m in section 514. The people who talk smack about standing through the whole football game (especially NFL) are likely the people that go once every two years and are so busy trying to prove that they’re superfans that they make every other regular around them highly irritated.
