Pat Kelsey 2.0
I have a first class seat on the fire Major train, but I’m not sure I’m ready to board the hire Pat Kelsey train. It’s not like he had a stellar year at Winthrop in a terrible Big South. [b]Finished 11-5 in conference play and has been pretty bad all other years.

I need to see more.
bahaha… :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t understand the argument of prove more. We aren’t getting a long term proven HC unless its a retread 60 hr old. Which is fine too if he can pull what StL has.

Kelsey wins 25 next yr, he goes ACC or Sec.

This. Combined with the fact that we passed on him once, what makes you think he’d want the job? We had our shot, and decided we wanted to go in a different direction. In hindsight, turned out that our direction was a poor choice. We’ll never know if Kelsey would have worked out any better. Time to move on.

Pat Kelsey to Virginia Tech. You heard it here first.

I too wonder about the bitter factor. He is buddies with Spease. So maybe that helps

But to go from 175k to 500k and move 30 mins? Yes

If he can negotiate Major to Winthrop I’m sold.

I’ll take Kelsey. Can we sign him tomorrow?

Not overly impressed with his 10-6 record in the big south. Don’t see why everyone thinks he’s the next great coach with acc possibilities. Sure if any coach regularly wins 25+ wins he could get a call up

I think its more likely he goes to Wake when they can Bzzzz.

Is his radio show any good?

This. What we need is a salesman! This guy would be perfect:

I chuckled. Not that it was funny. But you thought you were funny.

Never listened to his radio show.

I know his press conference made every national news and sports show when he got upset and gave an incredible Sandy Hook speech last year - while Major was discussing snowflakes and tweety bird. He uses his pulpit to do good things. Think that’s funny? Just had 5 sandy hook families to senior day. Each player wore name of murdered child instead of their last name on jersey. Passionate dude.

Oh…and they have won 5 straight (year 2)

This will fire you up

Holy mother…give me their radio guy too.

Are you capable of having a discussion without a personal attack or is that just where you retreat to every time your argument gets checked?

Can Pat Kelsey coach? I have no idea, and I doubt anyone here does. His team’s resume this season certainly isnt impressive. As cibik’s link clearly shows, as much of a dumpster fire as our season has been, our resume is definitively better. Winthrop has beaten absolutely no one, and is only 5-5 against teams 101-200, with 2 of those wins being narrow escapes against a terrible unc asheville team that we toyed with before ultimately dispatching with a 21 point beatdown.

At least 95% of the crap you complain about major is utter bullshit, and your delivery is even worse; not to mention your ulterior motives.

If I had 100 complaints about Major, #'s 1-98 would be NOT WINNING ENOUGH, followed by #99 his hair, and # 100 stop coughing into the mic in every post game radio interview. Note the relative importance. What makes Gregg Marshall such a successful, desirable coach? Good hair? Witty retorts? No. It’s his excellent run of NCAA success at a nothing school followed by 33-0. I guaranty you if Major had that record you couldnt get a seat in Halton.

Winning and recruiting are #1 and #1a in college sports because the latter drives the former. The rest is just icing on the cake. However you continue to push the ancillary stuff as primary substance, and you are dead wrong about it. Case in point, as much as Brad Lambert is pretty much universally liked, once his honeymoon period expires, his awww shucks persona and 1st person plural speech tic are going to wear really thin if we continue to get curb stomped in CUSA.

But hey, bring on a guy whose primary quality is being able to draw in ms paint or move a high mileage ford. That’ll solve all of our problems.

Wow NA

Not worthy of response

And yet you did.

Probably not. I doubt he could stay within the limit of Technical Fouls imposed on him by Judy and Phil. That’s the most important thing.

So, Cliff Ellis now on the board?

LOL, the guy notorius for his cupcake nonconference scheduling? Didnt one of his Auburn teams start 14-0 and then fail to make the tournament?
So, Cliff Ellis now on the board?
Cliff Ellis is still among the living?

Cliff had his program how many years?

Kelseys first recruitng class are freshman. Winthrop was on life support from Peele
