But Charlotte fans need a little reality check. The school took a hugely challenging step when it began football in 2013 with the intent of moving to Conference USA in 2015. Two 5-6 FCS seasons were followed by 2-10 and 4-8 records.Lambert is a respected coach who competes for recruits in the same same state with four ACC schools, Appalachian State and East Carolina. Clemson and the entire SEC are to the South.
all journalist have unc roots or worship unc therefore only want the worst for us!!!
football is only one part of this!! We have to keep making that point
What value is it for his audience if Charlotte improves? None.
Football is a small issue compared to the big picture of our issues, but it brings the most vocal people.
Colleges lose seniors every year and it is on the coach to make sure that they can compete every year. WTH were the coaches doing for recruiting in years 3 - 5? There is no evidence that the 39 returners will be better than their competition.
I have no issue with this. Harry is a good reporter and does and excellent job for a newspaper that actually covers its local team.
From the outside looking in I could see people having this attitude.
But he doesnât know what we know and he isnât factoring in basketball decline.
The basketball decline to me is far worse than the football issues.
I could be more patient of our basketball program had not had such a slide.
This just in ODU isnât that far away from all the FBS schools he mentioned.
Have to agree that Minium is a good writer and would rank him among the best covering C-USA along with sports reporter Chad Bishop of WBKO-TV in Bowling Green, KY and Southern Miss beatwriter Pat Magee of the Biloxi Sun Herald.
That said, donât always agree with him but it is nice to be able to read about the conference from someone who is guinuinely interested in C-USA.

I get all my information from the O. I canât wait for our conference basketball match ups with Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Florida Gulf Coast this year.
Is he managing his expectations of us !!?
clt says we found the soccer fan!
The discontent with our athletic department goes far beyond football. Note that Minimum didnât say Charlotte was well coached, if he did go out on that flimsy limb then it would be he that needs the reality check.
Also his poorly researched synopsis did not mention the firing of both coordinators. If Wally was retained possibly you could place the blame on the offense. To expect two home run hires at coordinator is to not deal with reality.
ODU, UTSA, and Georgia St had great football traditions which I guess is why the surpassed us, not the bungling of an AD that roasted away a portion of our fan base by having 12:00 kick-offs for two years, or who refuses to have port-a-jons like ODU does to increase capacity, or who completely botched the closing of The Black Lot.
Zero nuance from person clueless to past
2010:
Bobby Lutz fired due to slipping down to 90 rpi, 19 wins, 6200 butts in seats per night
7 Years later:
330 rpi, 10 wins at best, 1500 butts per game

To say Lambert is well respected in the league would be only because he is a nice guy and not for anything he has done on the field (4-20 in CUSA). Leading a football team requires more than being nice and a level of competence. This isnât a Cub Scout troop.
clt says it would nice to have a 49er grad covering the niners for the observer.
Iâd want Lambert in my division too

I donât mean this personally, because half the board thinks like you, so really I mean this towards half this board.
But this whole UNC conspiracy thing is so fucking old. They donât think we are a threat to them. Because we are not a threat to them. I canât read a single thread on this board without someone throwing out some pizzagate like scenario about how the mothership is working hard to keep us down. They have so many better things to do. We are fully capable of hamstringing our own university.
I do understand his point about recruiting, but that can change with time so long if we can put together some winning seasons. But, as others have pointed out, he fails to mention the absolute failure all across the AD. Our AD is so quick to mention sports other than football, but aside from soccer and golf they have been complete trash. The situation with menâs basketball is most troubling when you consider we destroyed the one thing we had been good, or at least decent at for so long.
And that is the one thing that the author, and others, fail to get. We are not out here calling for Judyâs job because we didnât make a bowl game this year or a post season tournament in basketball. We are calling for her job because we have the worst combined football and basketball programs in D1 and it keeps getting worse; and as icing on the cake we are consistently bad at womenâs basketball, baseball, and essentially everything else. It creates for a terrible fan experience, is bad publicity for the school, and is costing the University millions of dollars.
LOL, we arenât competing with ACC schools for recruits. Looking at our latest commits, weâre going toe-to-toe with Alfonsoâs Spaghetti School for players.

Thatâs it. Move along, folks. Nothing more to talk about.
Never thought Iâd see the day when that olâ CAA program called âOoo Dee You?â would be able to talk down to Charlotte - Well now we are here. Pathetic how others, even the lowliest have passed Charlotte by. But it is mostly our fault. Oh by the way - Who excatly is it that is trying to recruit Lambert?
Sent the writer an email saying, basically, we get enough condescending bullshit from our own AD, Chancellor, and local rag, so please donât pile it on. Also cited some facts and figs re: Lambert being trash.

Are you going to tell us they were not guilty of cheating again? Or are you going to tell us we deserve no coverage from our local paper? And who is your favorite tarhole player again?
