If we’d played that game in February, we’d have wiped the floor with them. I still view our program as superior in this decade, but inferior to the likes of South Florida this month. They won’t play us during the regular season because the risk of us beating them is too high and the reward for them is too little. I’m not going to shut-up about it just because of 1 bad month.

I hope all of our fans will shutup about playing an ACC team.
We should just worry about winning games that we should win - no matter who it is or which conference they are in.
We had our chance and we got Punked.
Please, please drop the ACC is scared talk. I am tired of defending it.
On to next year.
This is a myth that idiots like Fudge perpetrate in an effort to put us down. While I wouldnt mind playing any of them, I just want to play local teams because it’s an easy road trip.

Newsflash: We didn't play them in February. We played them when it counted the most and we folded. Who cares how we played a month ago or how State played a month ago?? Today is all that mattered...one game for 40 minutes of ball and we got punked by a middle-tier team from the ACC.
I think it’s a little crazy to say the ACC is scared to play you guys.
The ACC is just not stupid.
Charlotte is a game NC State would be expected to beat (Just on the name) despite the fact that you had a better season, better record, and we were down. This can be seen by the fact that you guys were underdogs by betting lines… we’re just more of a “known” team.
However, Charlotte is that school that no one will play becuase if you win, big deal, you should have… but there’s a very good chance Charlotte will kill you. People don’t want to play the really good lesser-known teams becuase the NCAA selection comittee doesn’t view it as a major win… but if you lose they’re like “I can’t believe it”
If anything, view it as a tribute to your team. They’re too good… it’s not worth it to play them becuase on any given day, they could definetely knock off one of the ACC schools. In most people’s eyes, the ACC school should beat them… and that wouldn’t always be the case

It just doesn't look good when the #2 team in conference USA loses to the #5 team in ACC...anyway you look at it
For the record, we were the #7 team in the ACC. However, we were the "5th" ACC to make the dance.

I agree with your post.
My post is directed at Charlotte fans who keep claiming that ACC schools are scared to play us.
This is stupid. There is nothing wrong with CUSA (in fact we’re gonna be the only CUSA team NOT advancing). Whats wrong is that we have no heart. Our team is the problem, not our conference, just like Gonzaga’s conference doesnt keep them from winning.
Wolfie, with all due respect, your position doesn’t hold water. We are not talking about fan perception but about reality. For instance, if NCSU had played Charlotte during the season (or for the past 10 years for that matter) and won, the NCAA committee would consider that a quality win that would have helped your RPI. Charlotte’s RPI has probably averaged in the 30’s to 40’s. What has State’s averaged? If State had lost, it would have been a “quality loss.” I think in your mind, it comes down to perception (ie how would it look to the average Wolfpack fan). For instance, State would probably rather play a very poor Purdue team (instead of a Charlotte team) just because they are a name brand school. It is all about perception, pure and simple.
I have heard the myth for over 30 years. I think it’s true.
But UNCC always gets a chance to prove it in the NCAAs. It hasn’t been easy to do since 1977. But whatever.
My thoughts are just rejoice for the great season Charlotte had and support the other teams from the state even though ya hate 'um like they were Yankees.
Out here in California you could put together a team of all-stars and they could not beat anybody from the state of North Carolina. Tarheels, Blue Devils, Niners, Wolkpack, or Deamon Deacons
Charlotte doesn’t have anything to be sorry for. The Niners will probably win the A-10 next season and get another chance.
