IMO, he’s not that great of a coach, he’s good, but I dont consider him great at coaching. He can recruit like crazy, better than anyone, but that only makes his coaching easier.
If this isn’t a clear cut case of Carolina arrogance and ACC elitism, I don’t know what is. I guess Tudor could just be a fricken idiot.
Win 2 national championships and you think that’s enough? Seriously? To be on a list of the Top 50 coaches of all time in ALL SPORTS??
And then lets QQ for Gary Williams… seriously. Win one national championship and coach for an ACC team and automatically that should be enough.
Caulton needs to go hang out with Santa Cruz girl. I think she could drop some knowledge on his ass.

Is that Roy’s skills or the schools reputationss he’s coached at doing the recruiting?

It is pretty damn dumb they didnt include him on the list. Hard to believe a guy with two rings and multiple final fours doesnt qualify as being one of the top 50 ever.

If it was a college basketball only list I’d tend to agree, but it isn’t.

didnt realize that. Yea…no way he’s top 50 all time in all sports.
a corpse could win at KU and UNC CH
doing it at Xavier, Gonazaga, other non bcs teams is the true test of greatness

He had pretty good classes at KU also, then again KU tends to recruit itself in some ways. He’s never been in a position where he hasn’t had a perennial power in his corner for coercion.

Matt Doherty. Just sayin’.
Being somewhere like that where the school’s name recruits for itself makes it easier to win, but there are SOME skillz involved.

Its amazing how our blind hatred for the tarheels makes us completely irrational sometimes.
Coaching at a blueblood program obviously has its advantages. But I would think you could understand that its not enough to just throw together a bunch of talent and win a championship. Its not that easy.
I doubt we’d be having this discussion if Roy went from Kansas to Indiana or Kentucky.
Hey Doherty had a Final 4.

Who’d he have left over from Gut’s team? He then went on to recruit basically the entire nucleus of the '05 Championship team.

Hmm, both teams that won the NC for Roy had at least 3 first round NBA picks, the 2005 team had 4. Sounds pretty easy to me.

What do we call the people who don’t like that we hate Carolina so much so they go unreasonably far in the other direction? Kinda like a self hating Jew I guess.

So?
UCLA, Ohio St, LSU, USC, Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, and UConn have all had teams in the past 4 or 5 years with multiple 1st rounders and no ring to show for it.
I admit that when he won the second title, I lost every leg I was standing on in opposing him being one of the best coaches in the game right now. Of all time, I’d say he’s probably top 15 now. Two titles is nothing to sneeze at and he’s been at a high level for a long time.
All coaches in all sports, he’s probably not top 50. But I’m not sure Coach K is top 10.

I think he was 19th… maybe in the 20’s.

No he didn’t.
