Psu postgame

1/3 of PSU’s points came from behind the arc, so that limited our big’s opportunities for blocks.

Why do Clayton and Thorne have so few blocks! Sometimes the stand flat footed hands up defense makes me mad. Block some one without fouling.
Well, Clayton is relatively small and doesn’t seem to have much hops. He only has a couple dunks in his career here.

Thorne’s lack of blocks is definitely more mind boggling. The guy is huge with a good vertical. I can’t believe he doesn’t get more blocks than he does.
I’m too lazy to see what Claytons and thornes blocks per game was in high school but I have a feeling a freshman might lead the team in block next year.

We are pretty thin in the post body wise, you think the coaches are telling them to go straight up so they don’t foul, which would lead to less blocks… hell that play Dorn did was about as clean a block I’ve seen from a niner at the rim in a while and they called a foul… they got quick wistles in college and we need our few big men out there.

Great game and great win despite not being able to watch the last 8 minutes of regulation and the OT’s due to work.

Everything has basically been said already. While Henry didn’t have a great scoring game, he still hustled his ass off and made some really nice passes. People are being a little too hard on him I think.

One thing we have to remember is that’s it’s all good and well to win in overtime, but this might come back to hurt us in tomorrow’s game. I guess Henry, Clayton and T-Will won’t be effected too much considering they sat for the entire overtime periods.

Exciting game to watch. Big Mike was awesome this game, as was Braxton. The two freshman, Dorn and Woods are both talented, but I’m more surprised by how poised they are. Blakley’s block was huge, he had some good minutes again. Terrence looked really good as well - his last foul was just so wrong. Don’t know how we won in 2OT without PH, I thought we were done when he sat.

The good news is, I thought, when playing our game we looked like the better team than PSU. I personally don’t like that we slowed down the game at about the 5-6 minute mark and played not to lose. That usually gets you beat and almost did here.

I just have to point this out: Mike looks like our most improved player every year. I know its just one game, but the kid played 43 minutes! He couldn’t play 2 minutes straight without getting winded 2 years ago. Also, last year dude NEVER passed out of a double team. He is much more aware these past 2 games. He had a great look to Henry when he was doubled that Henry got back to him for an and 1. I am really impressed - he must be putting in so much time in the offseason.

If Sullivan can’t play, then I’m not too bullish on this tourney though. Sunday we should be fine, but tomorrow night we might get tired legs. Hope not, I’d love to knock off USC.

Senior pg leader that we have seen grow his game here the last 3 years. High expectations for him…
Let me start by saying I’m proud of the guys for gutting this one out. I thought we were done going into ot. Braxton is the real deal. Woods and dorn are great. Williams played better. The team shot fts better as a whole

But if you hate yourself enough, go back and watch the last 8 to 10 minutes of the second half. From that point on, our primary offensive set was holding the ball for 25 seconds on the perimeter until the late ball screen comes and then you hope someone makes a play. We just started playing not to lose and we almost lost because of it. f***ing maddening. Total bush league stuff

Defensively I’m not to mad (except please fight through ball screens when the ball handler has dropped 30 pts on you). They made some tough shots.
I totally hate myself enough.

Anyone got or know where to get a copy of the game? I overslept. So pissed.

We would play the either Miami or Akron Sunday right?

Just watched the game on DVR and WOW… If I lived in Charlotte and not Winston I would be buying season tickets immediately. Fill Halton! This team feels like no other I have seen since I started attending Charlotte in '09. I know we blew a big lead and slowed it down and yadda yadda yadda but the fact that we had the freshman and bench players to pull this game out in 2OT with our ā€œstarā€ players fouled out/not playing worth a damn is amazing. Any other year we would have been absolutely doomed, no question. We can do much better than this game which is scary. Looking forward to the rest of this season. Should be a special one. Yes, I’m excited. Go Niners!

Thorne has altered quite a few shots so far, feels like more often than he did last year. The block Dorn had on the dunk was great, can’t believe they called a foul.

The poise of the young guys is outstanding, they all made huge plays.

Blakley has been great so far, I’m shocked. Kudos to him for putting in the work.

When is the last time we had this many threats to hit from outside?

Also, only 15 turnovers. Glad to see that cleaned up tonight.

I was traveling and missed the game. Can someone give a play-by-play recap? If not, a brief summary will do.

I recently talked to someone who spent some time in our practice gym one day this summer. Apparently we have a ā€œmachineā€ that counts your shots and keeps up with your stats. I don’t know what this magic machine looks like, but Ogbueze took 1000 3-point shots and hit 78% of them. Sure nobody was guarding him, but that is incredible because he was working that hard in the off-season, and doing that well. So far it is really paying off.

Nice to see some compliments on their board…

-I thought Charlotte had a nice ball team. They definitely had the advantage down low. #12, Thorne, is the type of big bodied post player that will put PSU at a big disadvantage all year. Sure wish we could land a guy like that.

-Charlotte seems to have good depth. Their bench scored 34 points that included 6-10 from 3-point range and 10-13 from the free throw line, plus 1 very key block (thier only block of the game). All freshman and sophomores by the way. And we have the nerve to complain about being young in the past few years…

-I’ll be shocked if Charlotte doesn’t compete for NCAA bid.

Cool.
Wondering how the machine knows it’s him. Does he wear a clip-on gps thing or something? If yes, wondering what else that machine can do.

He was the only one in there shooting.

Also, considering that we had about 20 more possessions than on Sunday, huge improvement. Hope this game was the one closer to the mean.

I’m sure this is the magic machine. The Gun Shootaway 8000. Most every program has one or two. It will track each shooter if you enter the info. It turns and makes both chest and bounce passes to the shooter. They are pretty awesome.
