That said, the colors pop on a plasma a LOT more than an LCD. Now don’t call me bias, I own stock in Syntax Brillian, the company that makes Olevia tvs,
There is no way in hell I’d use a mediocre (at best) Syntax/Olevia screen as the standard for LCDTVs. Try a Sony XBR3 or a new Samsung 1080p set. Remarkable difference. Still the best picture Ive seen outside of the exotic stuff.
We have a Samsung 1080p set at the school, and I use it as my example of the best LCD I’ve seen yet. It is in our student lounge, so on Sundays we watch football in HD on it. I wasn’t saying I was using SB’s tvs as the benchmark for LCDs, their concept is to be an affordable manufacturer. I was merely trying to point out that I, unlike a lot of people with a certain technology, do not have some strong inherent bias already.
I need the scoop on Vizio. They are cheaper than most and look pretty good. What’s the catch? Is it that they are just very basic?
They are going for bang for the buck V. They have some hits and misses. Comes down to their choices for certain component manufacturing, etc.
All in all, they’re decent. They do well as one of the cheapest, decent quality units you can buy at a retail store. But, you can usually find a better name brand online for less. It comes down to: do you want to buy a Vizio at Costco, or a Panasonic/etc at buydig.com…
Olevia is excelent. I have a 39" HD - dont remember what we paid for it, but i know it was a great deal - and we’ve been very happy with it.
Also got a 23" HD samsung - a little more pricey, but I’ve been really happy with it - especially when I use it for dual monitoring with my computer.
Friends sister just bought a 42" vizio - she loves it apparently. He said the picture is excelent, and he’s got a sony vega, so I think that should speak for something
