I would just prefer UNC-Charlotte, like it used to be.
I would agree with that, if it was verbal. However, in print it was always, NC-Char, NC-Charlotte, UNC-C, etc.
If I wasnāt from around here, I might even think that UNC-C was in Chapel Hill. But maybe that will be the case once the Charlotte campus is absorbed by UNC-Chapel Hill in a few years.

Can the Charlotte Observer please refrain from calling UNC-Chapel Hill "Carolina"? It is extremely confusing. I don't know if they are talking about the Carolina Panthers, the Hurricanes, or even the Gamec0cks. Their official name is UNC-Chapel Hill. It makes nothing but pratical sense to call them that"

So youāre watching ESPN and they say Charlotte just upset Houston. Which Charlotte? I would just prefer UNC-Charlotte, like it used to be. When you say Charlotte, I think the city or the Bobcats first.
It could also be the Charlotte - Hornets, too. What are ya talking about ya idiot.
BTW there are Houston- Rockets. Houston Oilers, Houston Cougars. Oops! I almost forgot the Houston -Texans. Which one are ya talking about?
News Flash, nobody gives a crap about the Bobcats.
I give them 5 years to make the playoffs or they are done, maybe even to Kansas City. They are already in the red, and are requesting money from David Stern to help them out. Imagine if Bob Johnson actually had to pay for the stadium:wow::wow:.
Itās all about the time when the franchise starts. The hornets werent exactly great at first but they started close to a high point of the NBA, and were there during the Jordan years. The NBA has gone, down, down, down in ratings for the last few years, and Charlotte gets the idea to start a franchise.
I don't know how to follow up to an answer, but I'm sure LW will get the message. So you're watching ESPN and they say Carolina just upset Houston. Which Carolina? All I am saying is your reasoning for not wanting us to be called Charlotte holds no water. This type of situation with multiple organizations going by the same or similar names happens all the time. If you say it's personal preference then I can't argue one bit because it's your right to have that opinion, but don't try and back your opinion up with bogus logic.
I think Charlotte was wrong to call itself Charlotte. Since that's what they want to be called, I will call them that. It'd be the same if UNC-W, where Benny is now, just wanted to be called Wilmington. I don't see UCLA just wanted to be LA. Just my 2 cents.
WOW! More unbelievabley sounds logic! This guys a genius!
Quick action could secure Davis, recruits
LANGSTON WERTZ JR.
North Carolina should act quickly to name a football coach. Top recruits are watching. Alumni are watching.
A former head coach would be good, like current Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe, whowould transform a hapless offense. Butch Davis says heās interested, and if North Carolina acts fast enough it can snatch him up before Miami fires Larry Coker and Davisā name comes up as a leading candidate in South Florida.
Davis rebuilt Miami when Miami was in shambles. He could rebuild North Carolina, though Iām not sure ārebuildā is the right word for a program that hasnāt consistently been where alumni and fans expect.
AAAHHHHH!!!
Help me, I am so confused!
I hear folks talking about āNorth Carolinaā, Iām like, is he talking about the school, that state, the state council, what?
FYI, they were called the Carolina Cobras and disbanded in 2004 - probably because too many people confused them with the Panthers, Hurricanes, etcā¦
Thank you for clearing that up for me. May I ask how could a casual sports fan like myself tell the difference between the"carolinas"? And, Oh by the way Iām no big time journalist, either.
North Carolina should act quickly to name a football coach. Top recruits are watching. Alumni are watching.
See, already Iām confusedā¦It has something to do with football, but I donāt know how. North Carolina is mentioned, so it could be the Panthers or the Cobras, but it really isnāt clear. Maybe it has to do with the folks in the state legislature? Something about alumni, but no school is mentioned.

Now Iām totally lost. He DOES mention a school - University of South Florida. But is Jim Leavitt on his way out the door? I thought they were playing in the Papa Johns bowl? Maybe Davis is running for school senate. Heās some kind of candidate in the school. That makes sense with the recruits watching and the alumni watching.
If youāre looking for an offensive coordinatorā¦would you choose one from the Tennessee Titans? But I still donāt know why or where he would be good. Apparantly North Carolina has to pick up this Davis guy from the Dolphins. But I thought Saban was coaching the Dolphins?!? Maybe he means the Miami Heat. It just isnāt clear. Are we talking football with North Carolina? Are we talking basketball? Hockey?!?

Why was Miami in shambles? Was it during the whole Elian Gonzalez thing? Rebuild North Carolina? What is he a candidate for again? Are we talking about sports? Then he ends on the alumni and fans rooting for the South Florida Bulls. I thought the Bulls HAD a consistent football program! Are we talking basketball? - fans are expecting inconsistency? What about the Cobras? UGH! I AM SO FREAKINā CONFUSED!!!

There you have it. Thatās what a degree of journalism from ācarolinaā will do.
Seriously, you guys need to be careful or Mike P will be on here making accusations like he did against CLT49er a few years ago.
Either that or heāll threaten to sue like he did last year.
Thank you for the warning Over40NINER. If mike like to accuse or sue to protect idiocy, or one may call it āschool tiesā. He can always try. :shades:
Perhaps Langston will read this and see what viewing through blue-tinted glases does to someone.
Nah, some things never change.
Langston needs to stop exposing what he learned in school or his idiocy by going back and play his video games. Hmmmm! May be I could use him as an example to help my thirteen year old nephew. You guys know the one . . . āthis is your brain; this is you brain on video gamesā.
