Was the wheelchair basketball scene in Talledega Nights filmed in the Mine Shaft (Belk Gym)? If not, I’ve been lying to people.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. My understanding is that he told some people while they were filming it elsewhere that he would come to Belk for a wheelchair tournament that was being held there. That is the story I heard anyway, I know there was a real tournament at Belk and Ferrell was on campus for it, but I don’t think any filming took place.
I’m not 100% on this, but that it what I remember hearing when it happened.
