Neither are around anymore. Hot Wok went under when I was a sophomore, so I guess that’d be about 4 years ago.
My post graduation dinner was at Lava Bistro. Nice location near campus and the food was pretty good.
I was going to say Cantina or Mama Ricotta’s, but I see I was beaten to the punch. Both really good restaurants and not crazy expensive.
Its been about 10 years since I graduated, but I think we just picked at the last minute and went to Olive Garden at the U and it was crazy packed with a crazy wait and you know how the food is there. Still, good memories
Lava is good but do lunch for sure. Me and the boss lady had dinner there and racked up a $250 bill. :o
Jesus Christ dude… were you ordering Patron shots all night? I’ve had dinner there before and there’s no way a dinner for two should come anywhere close to $250.
Jake’s Good Eats right down 485
Dish over on Thomas Street
Mamma Ricottas
Dish is very good, but the last 2 times I’ve eaten there I’ve gotten really sick. My brother also got sick when he ate there with me and my roommate said he has gotten sick after eating there before too. Love the food, but I won’t be going back.
Harpers is my favorite restaurant in the SouthPark area. Not too snotty and the food the excellent. Probably nothing on the menu over $20.

We did get a bottle of wine.
Goto Vixens off 81 in WVa… my goodness. They got a shower room where the girls will do… well, you gotta pay to get that info. They’ll also dance in your face and put their shit all up in your face… and by shit I mean their hoo ha.
If you end up at 1511, do yourself a favor and order twice as much guacamole than you think you’d want. I don’t know where they get their avocados from but the guac is the best you’ll ever find. We’ve gone there just for guacamole and drinks before because it’s so good. The fajitas are insanely good too. Unlike most you’ve probably had and one order is enough for two people (they’ll give you extra wraps if you ask).
If you want less hustle/bustle and a place that isn’t too loud to chat, I’d opt for Pewter Rose. The brunch is amazing if you get out in time to do that instead of lunch. Can’t go wrong with either though. We had our wedding reception there and the food was a big part of the decision to do so.
Yeah Harpers has been one of my favorites for years. Great food and reasonably priced (which is a hard combo to find in that area).
if youre in the mood for italian try either mama ricottas or il nido.
Villa Francesca is also very good for Italian.
Is Monterrey’s Mexican Restaurant still in business? My wife and I were in Charlotte and I always loved Max and Erma’s, went there and it was gone!! I was highly disappointed.
Monterrey is still there.

I liked Max and Erma’s as well but one of the reasons for that was no matter what day you could get into a seat easy. Guess that was part of the issue. With Wally World and Best Buy gone that whole area was done.
Hear Zink uptown is good.
If you’re willing to venture out a little, Brickhouse in (dare I say it) Davidson is phenomenal. One of my favorite places to eat - really well rounded menu from steak and seared tuna to brick oven pizza - definitely something for everone. They also have a great atmosphere that isn’t too casual but also isn’t really dressy. Perfect post-graduation IMO.
Remember that there is also an Olive Garden and PF Changs up at Northlake.
131 Main has great food. Harper’s has great food for the money. So does Hickory Tavern and Village Tavern.
You’ve grown on me Ken- you are one of my 3 or favorite posters on this board.
