Awesome to have an AA in and Niner uniform!

I’m glad Jim’s on top of this one (as he usually is). Good blog, but this deserves some print when the season gets here… regardless of if this poll is the official “Observer recognized poll” or not.

btw, preseason award does not make you AA

 You know I got much love, Metro. Man, I’m so excited. The Clemson series is seven short weeks away.

I’m sure if G Mine would’ve existed back when you played, you would’ve got some love from Jim

Anyone in particular?
Charlotte junior first baseman Rob Lyerly was named to the Louisville Slugger preseason second-team All-America squad.

Lyerly’s parents, Robert and Sandy, are Rowan natives. Robert played baseball at Pfeiffer.

Lyerly led the Atlantic 10 in slugging, doubles, RBIs and sacrifice flies last season. He enjoyed a 6-for-6 game with three homers against Massachusetts last April and won the Northwoods League batting title last summer.

Lyerly was earlier named to the Wallace Player of the Year Watch List.

Charlotte, whose roster includes East Rowan catcher Ross Steedley and infielder Justin Roland, opens the 2009 season on the road at Clemson on Feb. 20.

In the “area briefs” section. Got the name down and everything. Well done.
