Seeking Script and/or Concept Submissions

I recently started working on building a production company, Micfigaleanou Productions. However, we are having trouble coming up with a blockbuster concept for our first major production.

Here’s where you come in:

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/tfr/1132139469.html

Micfigaleanou Productions is currently seeking new film concepts and/or full scripts. These need to be intended for limited to zero budget productions, and should be approximately one hour in length.

The compensation for this project is copy, credit, and meals. The function of this is to build the name of Micfigaleanou Productions, as well as the name of the screenwriter.

Please send only copyrighted material, in order to protect your intellectual and creative property. (To copyright, simply mail it to yourself and have it postmarked, then email it to us.) No x-rated submissions, please.

Serious inquiries only.

Please? :49ers:

Tis’ one of the only industries not being hit as hard! (no pun intended)

I call BS.

If you want a blockbuster concept, you’re gonna have to pay for it. You get what you pay for.

Not necessarily. Several blockbuster concepts started with zero budget productions, and were picked up while on the indie circuit. There are no revolutionary ‘blockbuster concepts’ that are being made lately. Hollywood is becoming more and more like Broadway in their fear to spend any money on a show/film with no track record. Revivals and stage adaptations are the new big thing on Broadway, while remakes and book adaptations are the big thing in Hollywood.

We can offer those with concepts that need development a ‘lab’ to build a first film on their resume. Do you think that just anyone can submit a screenplay to a studio and get greenlighted immediately? I had a professor who works at a Hollywood studio who threw any unsolicited scripts into the recycling bin.

Plus, this first project was begun after the repetitive hassling of another professor who finally gave me the advice I needed.

OK, but how many of those indie blockbuster ideas were given away to a production company on craig’s list in exchange for a meal and a copy of the film?

I’m well aware that successful films are sometimes made on a limited budget (although far, far, FAR more limited budget films make absolutely no money at all). But if someone has the next big idea I don’t see them parting with it for free.

So don’t go through Hollywood. Send it to a smaller production company, but one who will still pay for a great idea. Or submit it to a screenwriting competition. Winners, or even finalists, of those competitions regularly get picked up by small production companies.

Sorry to be so antagonistic, but I just don’t *see what’s in it for the writer in your scenario. If you want to produce a film and not pay anyone, I think you should write the script yourself.

I am aware that many of the no budget films are produced at a loss. Of course this will not just be a meal and copy – the screenwriter will be able to see their vision transformed into a living thing. Believe it or not, some people do not care about the money, and they are willing to submit screenplays to see their passions carried through.

I have already received several scripts and pitches.

Of course if the production makes money there would be significant residuals in store for the screenwriter. We just have no money to put down a deposit on the residuals.

What’s in it for the writers? They get to see their passions realized in film. We (my partners and I) have been tossing around several ideas, and will more than likely end up producing one of them as either the first or one of the first films.

Thank you for being antagonistic, though. The questions you ask are good ones. We are just trying to see what we can do, and push each person to their artistic limits.

If you need any sound track work, let me know.

I have an idea, it is based off of a worst selling book…

Faster Than The Speed of Love

by Brian Griffin

So this chick goes in a bar, right, & she has big jugs, right, & she has … I can’t repeat the rest.

Awesome man, thanks. I may need to use your services.

BUMP. I’ve received several scripts that my partners and I are reviewing, but we are still looking for more.

Ditto that if you need actors/extras.
