Hey now! We aren’t that bad. We welcome you to Sammy’s!
clt says Statesville should not be on this list.
Isn’t “snobby” an attitude? I don’t think that you can necessarily use objective attributes to determine a subjective attitude. Their metrics are flawed. That’s why you end up with Davidson and Asheville on the list when they aren’t really snobby places. Both are actually pretty friendly from my experience.

They left one off the list.
Wherever Gonzo happens to be at any moment.

In all likelihood Gonzo will be working at Lowe’s in a year. He should be finishing up law school at NCCU and according to Forbes “Only 44% of its 2013 grads had landed jobs nine months after finishing school, and just 76% reported their status, according to the school’s website, so the employment rate could be even lower. The median starting salary was $45,000 and the average debt load, $74,000.” So Gonzo has no room to be snobby, he has just delayed the reality of his future by three years.
Apologies to anyone here that went to NCCU. I assume you are in the top 44%.
My understanding is that all law schools other than the elites are having the same issue. Too many lawyers right now.
I read an article in the times a few years ago that said you should only go to law school right now in three situations. 1. You get into an elite school. 2. You have a connection at a firm that will get you in guaranteed. 3. You have the resources to get out with zero debt.
My company hired about 30 lawyers last year on a temp basis to work a merger and we packed them into a meeting room like sardines for 4 months. Not too glamorous.
Cary seems too big to be on that list. Parts may qualify but a lot doesn’t. It’s no ITB (inside the beltline) Raleigh.

Not too glamorous.
even those from the really good schools are having difficulty right now. My coworkers cousin graduated from Vanderbilt law with solid grades and had a lot of difficulty finding a job. So he founded a non-profit organization dedicated to calling out bullshit salary and job placement numbers from law schools that are used to get suckers to apply and enroll.
Vote Donald Trump! Build a wall and keep the yankees out of the triangle! Ok, in all seriousness,
Cary is definitely stuck up. I saw the link and I immediately thought Cary #1, North Raleigh #2. Cary is really exclusive yet doesn’t have anything that really defines it. It’s just a mass of stripmalls and mass chain stores, even if it is incredibly safe and the chain stores are high end, it’s still not very unique. The speed limits are extremely low and cops will pull you for going 5 over. Also very few programs to help the poor and no section 8 housing despite having over 110,000 people. A lot of the people that I know from Cary have serious ego issues. Asheville is weird and loves being weird, but I wouldn’t exactly call it snobby. I’d move it down to #10 or take it off the list. Throw Apex on there too.
As someone who went to high school in Wake Forest (Wake Forest-Rolesville High), I never felt like that when I lived there. It always seemed fairly typical of your decently affluent suburbia to me.
When did you graduate?
I was thinking along the same lines. Southpark might be the snobbiest towards non-Vineyard Vines wearing folks, Asheville the snobbiest towards domestic beer drinking people , Wilson towards western NC bbq and some place like Kinston might be the snobbiest towards Japanese tractor owners.

Well, I think that’s the first time I’ve heard my home town and the word snobbiest in the same sentence. Had to take a second glance to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. ;D

Wilson. I was practically raised on Bills chicken and Parkers BBQ.
So they listed the 10 towns with the highest per capita income…in order. Actually looks like a good list of towns to hang out/live in to me.
Sorry if anyone is offended that Gastonia, Harrisburg and Goldsboro wouldn’t be on my list of best places in NC.

I can’t imagine Harrisburg making anybodies Snobbiest list, but it did make Money’s 50 Best Places to Live in America list. With a median household income of $83k it is twice Gastonia’s. ![]()

The Charlotte region has two cities in the top 50 of the new Money magazine ranking of the “50 Best Places to Live in America.” Harrisburg in Cabarrus County was No. 41; Stallings in Union County was No. 46.This year marks Harrisburg’s debut on MONEY’s list, but it’s easy to see why the town is booming. Great jobs in nearby Charlotte fuel the area’s 10.6% projected job growth. And multi-million-dollar expansions by local employers like Pepsi Bottling Ventures are poised to attract more development. This solid employment scene has led Harrisburg to the highest homeownership rate in the county (90%), yet property taxes remain affordable.
Looked at list. Looked OK to me. Maybe Corolla over Kill Devil Hills. But that’s really not NC. Wake Forest? No. That’s North Raleigh. Whatever. Davidson? Sure. Chapel Hill. Why the hell are we #2? Pinehurst? Yep. Asheville. Snobby? No. Just maybe because hairy women that take off their tops. No. Liberal? Yes. Weddington? Why? And Oak Ridge? O.K. I’m stumped? Is this near Denver? Stokesdale? Clemmons? Where is Oak Ridge?
