Apparently there’s a good #9 that was born in the US but grew up in England that may be coming home? He’s apparently played for the England U20 or U21s?

He is an Arsenal player who is playing on loan in Ligue 1 for a club called Reims.
Apparently he has been tearing it up… Scored 17 goals in 22 matches or something like that.
He is a dual citizen of England and USA.
The current drama is that apparently unhappy with the fact that England manager Southgate didn’t call him up to the National Team, instead sending him to the U21 squad, he posted something along the lines of “go where you are wanted” on Twitter and then he was suddenly in Florida this past week where the USMNT are training.
The USMNT fans are going bonkers because apparently this kid is the real deal, and he plays as a highly effective 9, which we have never been able to develop on our own. If he actually switches allegiances and is as good as the fanbase thinks, he could be the missing piece for the 2026 squad and make us a real favorite to advance.
Lotta ifs in all of that. Will be interesting to watch it play out. The hardcore fans are essentially wetting themselves.

Just thought it was interesting that the writer’s argument wasn’t with the Apple TV contract but with the way MLS is structured vs other soccer leagues. Of course, really nothing new about that point of view.
Simply don’t see how Messi can return to Barca. The team is beholden to asinine La Liga Fair Play rules and can’t even sign Gavi to the first team at the moment. La Liga President Tebas is so pissed that Barca didn’t take his CVC deal that he is apparently doing everthing in his power to screw over the team. With regard to Fair Play, La Liga didn’t make any concessions for covid, while most every other league did. Yes, Barca’s former President is an idiot and needs to be punished. Hopefully his time comes soon.
