More frustrations with Spain’s coach, for sure. I mean, when the 64th ranked team is coming at you, you know they are simply going to park the bus the entire match and hope for the best. Why Spain waited so long to bring in Yamal and Olmo is a mystery.

Yes, I think you are right and Yamal was on a minutes restriction. However, still doesn’t explain playing a midfielder on the wing and not starting Olmo over Torres. I did notice the team changed when Yamal entered. My guess is he starts next match. No discredit to Cabo Verde, they did what they had to do to get the point.

I missed this one. My son said Senegal should file a protest about biased officiating. Said it was all match long. I only saw a few seconds of the match, but the few I saw included a French defender blatantly shoving a Senegalese attacker from behind, knocking him flat on his face… No call.

Senegal had their chances. Can’t blame the officials but definitely a physical match.
I get the hydration breaks if it’s 95 degrees outside, but inside an airconditioned dome? I’ve heard FIFA has mandated the breaks no matter the weather, I guess so all games are treated the same?

They’re commercial breaks. FIFA is trying to make soccer into a 4 quarter game so they can generate more ad revenue.
Everyone who reads this particular thread knows how awful that is for the fans and the flow of the game.

We aren’t a Messi household in case someone thinks that based on my posts today. One of my sons is a huge CR7 fan. We all think Messi is okay but gets the star treatment.
But back to CR7 - I think it’s time for him to swallow his ego and sit the next match. Half those touches were immediate touch backs to his teammate that accomplished nothing. He isn’t helping that team. Bring him in late for PKs in the elimination round.
