All of them performed poorly, but Barden looked to have more potential. He had good moves in the pocket, except the OL couldnāt block. I hope Barden wins the starting job or is an immediate starter as a RS-Fr.
Not sure why we ran 1,000 times. Kind of boring to watch.
I donāt know if anyone is going to challenge Johnson for the starting job this season. Matt didnāt look great today, but I have no reason to doubt him as a starter going into this season after his solid performance last year. Hopefully he continues to improve, but there is no guarantee his abilities will transfer to success in FBS. Barden will likely redshirt this season, but it will be interesting to see if there is a QB contest going into 2015.
Johnson does not have the high caliber passing vision, decision making, or accuracy to excel against many school with athletes and talent, which is the buzz-saw he ran into last year. I think heās close to his potential already. We got a steal last year with him as our 1st year QB, but he is what he is. He was not highly recruited and wasnāt really a passer in HS. Heād be a great backup.
If we want to succeed in FBS, we need Barden to be good and to be the guy.
I agree with this completely.
Not sure I see Barden as a better option at this point. Barden was 0-6 with 2 interceptions.
His first pick was a good ball, the receiver just didnt come back to it
The O-Line opened some big holes late in the game
Hate to disagreeā¦
His 1st pick was a deep slant that he threw well behind the receiver. The receiver couldnāt come back for it as he was running full speed across the fieldā¦he slipped trying to stop because the ball was thrown behind him.
His second pick was worse. He was throwing a quick slant to a receiver that got jammed on the lineā¦so he just stared at him until he got free. The DE or OLB simply slid over and jumped the route.
Several of his other throws were well off as well. He did have 1 that was just flat out dropped but it was a WR screen.
Nothing he threw down the field was even close.
Yea, I remember the deep slant where the receiver slipped trying to stop, I thought McNeill threw that ball, and Bardenās first pick was deep over the middle. Anyway none of the three looked good yesterday.
