Temple Pre-Game Thread

Current Line: Charlotte +24 via 5dimes

One of two things will happen:

  1. We get demolished MT-style

  2. We pull off a massive upset

There will be no in between in this game.

All I will say is that I have had an unusually good gut feeling about this game since the middle of last year.

clt says traffic will be interesting.

Temple is 3-0, Good wins over Penn State (by 17) and Cincy (by 8 ).

However, a 0-3 UMass team played them to within 2, before falling 25-23 at home.

If our D holds up, and we somehow address the QB issues, then this game could be close. I just fear another rash of offensive mistakes that will keep this game out of reach.

You ain’t kidding.

What’s the word on tailgating Friday?

What, like rotating QBs?

Opposing coaches: “#8’s in, he’s going to run with it.” “#5 is in, time to intercept the ball.”

Just one game by us with zero TOs. Is that a reasonable goal? We’re averaging an absurd number of TOs in FBS play. Likely a record setting pace at this level.

If we could pull off a TO free game… Shades of the Louisville game when Mitch Baldwin thwarted Pitino’s system by committing 0 TOs and we knocked off a top 5 team?

Zero is hard for most teams so maybe just a bit unreasonable with this squad. No more than 2 turnovers though is an achievable goal.

Can we limit it to 3? That’d be a huge change at this point.

How long until we see this? At least bring in an extra blocker. (only half joking)

[/quote]Essentially we can do that with Johnson back there. Every now and then, just throw up a prayer deep.

FTFY

If we can limit our turnovers in this game to under 3 that would be great. I would be happy with us keeping it within 3 scores. I think it’s time to just give Barden the start, no more three quarterback system.

I think if we limit it to three TOs, we will be within 3 scores. Unless they are all Pick 6s.

For that to work we have to keep Matt in the whole game. Otherwise teams will do what FAU did and just queue on him running the ball.

I was thinking of replacing the QB with an extra lead blocker. Let Buie or KP take a direct snap. I’d rather have those 2 running.

We need to get buie the ball in space. He is not a power back.

This is one where my Madden level OC skills may show, but when we do run jet sweeps, or anything to the flat, why do we go to the short side of the field. FAU killed us won a few plays by going to the wide side. TBH, I thought that side was “the flat”. So weird watching us run those types of plays to the short side. Is it cause our potential blockers are too slow or can’t block?

Perfect play to dial up Chris Montgomery’s number on from what I’ve seen.

The Owls will be facing their fourth straight strong quarterback in junior Matt Johnson, who has thrown for 37 touchdowns and 5,013 yards in his career. Hm.

He’s out with a concussion now, and with Barden seeming to be banged up (is he?), does McNeil play the whole game? Or do we platoon Barden and McNeil?
