Hydrofoils are awesome. Rode one in Sydney years ago. In addition to energy consumption they are also way faster.

Agree. Rode on one between the Channel Islands (Jersey) and the French port of Saint-Malo a number of years ago. Also took a hydrofoil across the English Channel before those were retired after completion of the Chunnel.
