There is no African American category, there IS an African Descent category.
In light of this I feel that I need to log an official Inquiry Request for Normmm’s 2nd round pick. He has the right to pick Charlize Theron but I do not believe he can choose her in his African Descent category. She was born in Africa, but the category is not African, but African DESCENT! She is clearly of 100% EUROPEAN descent. The judges will need to make a determination as to whether the category should be changed from AFRICAN DESCENT to AFRICAN or rule that he must change her category to something other than African Descent.
I hope that you were making a joke. Were her parents born in Africa? Yes. That makes her of African descent. Besides, if evolution is true then we are all from Africa anyway. Would you be upset if I picked a Morrocan or Egyptian for the “African Descent” category? What about Australian aborigines? They look more black than many North Africans.
The fact of the matter is this isn’t a “black” or “negroid” (and no that’s not a racist word for those of you who’ve never taken an anthropology class) category. African descent refers to those persons whose ancestors called Africa their home. You guys wanted to be all politically correct about it. Now live with your choice.

I’ll respond to…whatever this is…in more detail in a few, but let me first appolgize to you for making your panties wad up.

Thanks. Beat me too it. Like I said before, I originally tried to do skin tone/ethnicity as categories, but was told that was a touchy area.
And I also mentioned before that the idea for this was to be fun, not to be held up on a technicality or political correctness.

Just to clarify, I can pick someone who was born in Africa and that makes them African descent? Or what if one or both of their parents lived in Africa for a year, then moved to somewhere else and she was born in the other place? Does that also qualify as Afican descent? I haven’t made this pick yet and I just want to know how wide a field I get to choose from.

I just glanced through this blog, but this guy has lots of reasons that foreign chicks make better wifes. More sex, better shape, more housework, less argueing, etc.
