In all seriousness I’m sure it will all come out eventually, it always seems to… hopefully this is best for the basketball program in the long run, but the next 12 months could be really ugly.

How? Because I called Lutz a retread? Of because I said that hiring a person with zero head coaching experience in the last decade would be a bad hire?
I was around when Lutz was the coach and the winning was fun going backwards, even for an interim solution, is not the way back to relevancy.
I think we’ll be better off even in the next 12 months than we would have been with Sanchez. I have more faith in Fearne to coach this team than I had in him & I think we end up with someone even better. I may be wrong but this just feels like we have had a giant boat anchor removed from our basketball program.

I’m honestly curious… Have a strong reason for more faith in Fearne or just fresh start confidence that it can’t be worse?
Sanchez consistently did less with more than any coach I have ever watched closely. He could not motivate & actually seemed to do the opposite. He was rigid & unwilling to change anything, even when it wasn’t working. Fearne knows basketball so I feel like he can’t do any worse. I’m hoping we hire a completely new staff & go in a totally different direction, but if we stay with Fearne I still have more hope for next season than I had with Ron.

Eh, disagree slightly. Football we appear to be headed in the right direction. The expansion is a head scratcher though if I’m being honest.
Hoops, imho, we just got a get outta jail free card. Probably gonna be a tough year coming up either way and now we off the hook for the $$$. I consider that a W

Just hope we can at least be competitive in our Conference football games in the first year, not necessarily get the W’s, but have competitive games.

I’m not that pessimistic about Poggi / football. Acknowledging that it’s a gamble, but I believe we have improved the roster quality significantly, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Will be tougher competition, but my expectations are that we will be competitive. It will take good coaching to win us games though.
Hoops - my concerns are not just limited to coaching. We have recruited a roster suited to playing a system that only our departed coach wants to run. I think the most difficult thing besides just finding another HC, will be finding a way to coach this roster to wins when on paper it doesn’t look anywhere near as athletic as most of the other AAC programs do. We also don’t know how many guys are going to beg to be released after they get done being bombarded with phone calls from other programs. Basketball is in a much weaker position.

Depending on the Coach the roster turnover in the next 24 months could be historic. If we go from Sanchez system to offensive minded system with also a step up in competition/ conference WITH the portal!
