One, because I want to experience the excitement of Charlotte Basketball being relevant again.
Two, because that will hopefully, finally put to rest the insanity that exists on this board re: Lutz.
Bobby is not coming back and was fired for appropriate reasons at the time of his dismissal. The desire by some to revisit a retread like Lutz when I think everyone agrees we need a home run hire is absolutely bonkers. The man has not been a head coach in more than a decade and has zero experience recruiting, coaching or managing a program in the NIL/Portal era of college sports. You are falling for nostalgia if you think him having a role with Charlotte Basketball is a positive move for the program, period.
Take his resume - with his lack of coaching experience or the fact that he has ONLY TWO NCAA tourney wins - and remove his name while then trying to position this John Doe as a solution and you would get shit on and roasted to eternity.
Itās time to move onward and upward. Not with Lutz, maybe with Fearn for a year as interim, but either way with a fresh approach to Charlotte Basketball for this decade and beyond.
If Sanchez dumped this on us in August or September Lutz may be a reasonable interim option but in early June we still have time to find our guy. In some strange way it may even be to our advantage, no competition as no one else is looking right now.
I agree, except for the term Sanchez dumped this on us. Sanchez leaving here is a Godsend for us and Mike Hill. Richey wants to build, and we have the perfect foundation for him to build upon. I am impressed by his story, style and demeanor. I like the idea of a coach from outside the southeast, but I also appreciate a guy with deep roots here like Richey. Just hire Richey and we will be in a much, much better place than we were this time last week
If we got Furman or UNC Ashvilleās coach they could technically have āgrad transfersā come with them and still be eligible to play right away even with the portal closed if we have roster spots correct?
Love Bobby but he is not coming back. I swear 40 years from now this constant LUTZ drum beat by a handful of posters will be advocating to dig him up and prop him up on the bench.

The Lutz comments will only stop when we hire someone better than him. Judy was supposed to do that when she fired him. Hasnāt happened yet, although I guess we just had our āgreatest season in 20 years.ā
Seems a bit odd as CSA appears to be mostly a bunch of former ADs / administrators who almost exclusively conduct Athletic Director searches, not coaches.
Edit - it looks like they have been involved in a couple of coaching placements too, including Lincoln Reilly recently.
I believe the player we are getting from HS can decide to go elsewhere or just want to and āredshirtā his first year .Also, anyone that can be considered a grad student like Jallow. A new coach may not want some of these guy who fit this category and then being a grd with them.
