Another thing â the way the students absolutely go off screaming at the refs, even early on in the game, even if theyâre conferring to get a call right. Screaming profanities at the ref isnât going to help us get calls.
This is another thing that kills me. I seriously think that our students get this from Bobby. They watch the way he whines about every call and it has rubbed off on them except they canât get a technical so they get nasty.
The entire arena whines about officiating more than any arena I have ever been to for any sporting event. I think the alumni side it catching the âwhining diseaseâ from Bobbyâs wife, and now his kids, who stand and SCREAM at the officials the entire game. Not over a couple of calls, over every call.
Last night, for instance, you would have thought the refs were being paid off the way our fans reacted to EVERY call like they were out to get us.
There were sarcatic cheers when Valpo was whistled for a call with 10 minutes to go in the second half and you would think the officiating had been lopsided by the reaction, however the reality was that the team fouls at the time were 9-2 in OUR favor! If anyone should have been upset, Valpo should have been.
Last nights game was officiated fairly well, for a young crew and they let Lutz get away with a lot. It was a very pysical game which is tough to officiate and there were bad calls both ways, however that is the way it goes for everyone.
When you here coaches like Huggins say he hates to play at Halton, it is nothing we should be proud of. He hates playing at Halton because he thinks we have the worst fans in the country. This is not an isolated incident, coaches and players all around cusa used to complain about how classless our fans are.
The incidents in the short period of time Halton has been open speak for themselves.
