DirecTV is rolling out about 100 new HD channels by end of year.
That is what they are advertising here. But they are only going to have about 60. And their quality will be subpar at best. Of course they are saying that they will have up to 100+ channels, so that is how they are getting away with it.
Satellite dishes aren’t the answer for everyone, but they are the answer for some.
Not So Fast My Friend. The quality of HD on DirecTV is nowhere near the quality that it is on TWC. When they compress the hell out of the signal to send it up, and then decompress the hell out of it to send it back down to you, alot of the picture quality is lost. When TWC goes to SDV (Switched Digital Video) later this year, it will only improve the signal. As much as I hate to say it, for HD quality anyway, TWC is the better option.
…and if anyone out there in Niner land is lucky enough to have the FIOS stuff, like the Kellswater Bridge subdivision in Kannapolis, well I am very envious of you!
Fiber Optic cable is far superior to everything out there. NC is going to be covered in it soon, but AT&T is bringing it as well as TWC. I am stoked for that, because that stuff is golden.
yeah - and now I’m a screwed over town of mooresville customer… #$^#$…now when im on campus i get TWC - does this mean that my HD tv will be picking up these channels through regular cable? bc i’m getting a good number of HD channels already?
If your TV receives HD channels without a box and there are HD channels broadcast that reach the university area, then yes you will pick up those channels. Otherwise, you will need an HD box, and then you will get HD channels.
I think it’s an illegal monopoly that only Direct TV can carry Sunday Ticket. That’s just wrong. Every cable & satellite provider should be able to sell it.
haha. DirecTV has a contract with the NFL. That is not a monopoly.
