TL Ford 2014 - 6'3 WR Cartersville (Kansas State decommit) - 3 star

3 Star WR decommited from KSU today and committed here per his Twitter. Says he is really happy about decision.

This is another really nice get for our staff. They continue to stockpile talent.

Would love to know which coach is their recruiter. I know Coach Gary recruits in Georgia.

This is awesome!!! We have some real athletes coming in. This kid had a lot of solid D1 offers. This is a great get

clt says the k state folks are full of butthurt: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=173&f=2670&t=12583319

K State post Snyder is life in corn country and yearly whoopings at the hands of UTx and OU. Cool if thats your dreamā€¦ Welcome TL!

Yes, but heā€™s still Bill Snyder and practically built that program from a laughing stock to a national power in the 90s.

Not knocking Snyder. Iā€™m saying whenever he is done coaching back to the basement for KState. This narrative has played before and may soon repeat

Oopsā€¦misread your postā€¦didnā€™t realize it said ā€œpost-Snyderā€

Does this mean we finally got them back for Michael Beasley?

This is why you recruit the guys no one thinks you can get. Just in case they decommit from somewhere else and remember you. Great work by the staff!

According to that thread Coach Lambert was known as Brad ā€œThe Hammerā€ Lambert while at KSU. lol.

No, after he committed to Charlotte, the App coaching staff decided that they didnt want to pursue him too much. He wouldnā€™t have been starter material at App and theyā€™ve landed much better talent than whatever some little olā€™ school in Kansas would be targeting. <---- ASU Fan Logic.

Seriously though, Iā€™m so excited about this commit. Welcome to Niner Nation Ford! Looking forward to watching you team up with your old QB for some great FBS wins!

Thatā€™s a great pick-up. When you start getting these higher ranked guys (like Barden) they start recruiting for you. This class is starting to take get some momentum rolling, hopefully we can keep it going

ESPN Insider Scouting report:

Size-Strength-Speed
Tall and long. Lanky, underdeveloped frame that lacks physical strength at this stage. Pretty smooth and sleek overall. Speed is deceptively good. At times can be a bit of a short stepper, but when he opens up he can gain momentum pretty quickly.

Separation Skills
Better on underneath routes than vertically. Comes off the ball with surge and is conscious of steps and spacing. Good on slants, crossing routes and intermediate sideline routes. Can be a little rigid at the top of the stem getting out of breaks with lateral cuts. Pad level raises and he will telegraph intentions as a result. A very decisive cutter, which gives him value on angled routes.

Ball Skills
Confident, strong hands. Extends out from the body, shows enough torso flexibility to bend and contort to low and behind throws. Has jump ball upside due to size and long arms. Will elevate, but must be careful not to cradle catch when elevated. Has the flexible body control you want to adjust and make plays in the air.

Big Play Ability
Just serviceable after the catch. Heā€™s a run and catch guy, move the chains and can play inside or out. Not a ton of big play flair. Makes more plays on the inside on deeper routes where he can navigate coverage and exploit soft spots in zones. Has shown a penchant for making plays when contested in somewhat acrobatic fashion.

Bottom Line
Ford has very good measurables and will make his fair share of plays. Needs precision as a route runner. Size and flexibility are his best traits. He is a consistent and reliable guy and we feel could have better upside on the inside. Would expect him to see mid-major attention. Good in many areas, but not great in any.

Brads alma mater cant be happy

Awesome

You might change your tune if they take us to the woodshed in 2016.

Unless we do a whole lot of things right in the next couple of years, it will be ā€œwhen they take us to the woodshed in 2016.ā€

If we happen to win our first game against a Power 5 Conference team, we will really get the attention of the other teams in NC.
