At this point I think we have to win each remaining non conference games to consider the start of this season anything short of a failure. We have played one legit NCAA team, one borderline NCAA team and 3 bad teams. We have lost (at home) to the only good competition we have played so far. The rest of our out of conference is soft so we can’t crap the bed again. Yes, this means we need to win at IU.
Come March when we get the 9 seed in the Mid West, there should be no complaints. Just like every year, we drop a home game or two that prove the difference. Our margin of error is slim, these games kill us.
If we are a 8 or 9 again it may not be all that bad. If we can get past the first round, we’ll be matched up with a very high seed, maybe a 1, and I believe that our team would be a 1’s worst nightmare.
I expect that to improve as I expect Alabama along with other teams to do well in their conferences. Agreed that we will have to do well in CUSA to make the NCAA’s. However, with games against Memphis, Cincy, and UL along with the rest of C-USA, we will have many chances to move up. What could ultimately hurt us is if we find ourselves losing to Davidson, Ga State, and other games like that. This is even more reason why that loss to Rutgers was so big.

Memphis is the best of those three and they're only at 51 and Louisville is sitting not-so-pretty at 100. Cincy is 74. All the RPI's will go down as the season progresses but it's not going to be easy to get into a very comfortable spot playing some of these OOC teams we're playing.
Bottom line is that when you’re playing a schedule that is currently ranked 230 in the country, you can’t afford to be 3-2 after five games, with both losses coming at home. We can’t drop another OOC game in my opinion and not expect to fight for our post-season lives for the entire time of conference play.
You’re right, it’s not going to be easy. But I wasn’t aware the season was over (not saying you said it was, just the general mood of the board still).
