Transfers

Could someone tell me how many transfers have happened at Charlotte since Lutz became head coach compared to the number
of transfers that happened while Rose, Mullins and/or Watkins acted as head coach? Never mind Wissel. I’ll bet, by any measure,
Lutz has lost more to transfer than anyone before him. Just another indication of the health of the program?

Feel free to want Lutz gone. But this really isn’t any type of indication. If you’re going to do that, go ahead and also compare with Roy Williams, Bobby Knight and Coach K.

Further evidence how bad this year was. We’re recycling topics from the last 5 years.

I also see someone who loves to . . .

;D

Normm, I didn’t realize that many transfers happened at IU, Duke & the Holes. LMAO!!

Niner89, how did you know I like to fish? lol!!!

Not sure what you’re wanting to say wake but for the record, Lee Rose would get the record for most players leaving in one season as he told several they wouldn’t be on his first team ('76 NIT). I dare say that most schools on average lose a player each season, you’re just concentrating on Charlotte.

Compared to other A-10 programs, we’re about average on transfers. St. Joe’s and UMass probably the leader in transfers as of late, though GW certainly had quite a few leave after the 2008-09 season. And, of course, Ron Everhart did the most extensive housecleaning when he took over at Duquesne and kept only 2 players recruited by Danny Nee, followed closely by Rick Majerus shaking things up at Saint Louis when he replaced Brad Soderberg.

thats because about 100 trolls have registered the past 2 months that don’t know their arse from their elbow about our team or what happens in reality

Chipper, you might wanna get that “chip” off your shoulder. I’ll match wits about any level of basketball anytime you like. LMAO!

WakeNiner, you sure respond with a lot of "LOL"s and "LMAO"s when someone sort of proves you wrong.

Are you laughing at yourself?

Man, everyone likes to beat up on the new guy, huh? Maybe if we stopped giving everyone s*** for expressing their opinion, we could get some new members on board and stop seeing the same 5 people in every thread. I’d like to hear what the majority of fans think about the program, not the same few people that spend every waking hour on the board. And sorry to tell you this metro, but you don’t speak for all fans.

If you disagree with someone, politely disagree and give a differing opinion. Most users are nice to the new people, but others can just be straight dicks. We need all the fans we can get and if you want the community to rally around the program, and get involved, you’re going to need to treat them better.

I think its more do with him starting an asinine thread.

Let me sum up how he feels about our program, based off his first post: “Bobby has had more transfers than anyone else in our coaching history so that just adds to how piss-poor our program is, except I don’t have any facts to back that up, but I am guaranteeing it.”

It has nothing to do with him being the new guy.

LMAO! They did. Coach K is up there with the best of them with having players to transfer, and he’s getting ready to win his 9th ACC Championship in 12 seasons.

wakeniner… know the facts before you spout off.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/310680-olek-czyz-joining-the-ever-growing-list-of-duke-transfers

Mr. wake, you’re from the Triangle area, correct? Are any of these names familiar?

Christian Ast, Joey Beard, Eric Boateng, Jamal Boykin, Chris Burgess, Mike Chappell, Olek Czyz, Bill Jackman, Taylor King, Bill McCaffrey, Crawford Palmer, Andre Sweet, Michael Thompson, Greg Wendt, Elliot Williams or Adam Boone, John Brownlee, Matt Brust, Larry Davis, Neil Fingleton, Kenny Harris, Steve Krafcisin, Brian Morrison, Lynnwood Robinson, Cliff Rozier, Donald Washington

Above is a list (likely not complete) of players who transferred from Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill. Greg Wendt was a recruit in Coach K’s first class, couldn’t handle it. Bill Jackman was a member of the program turn-around class of Dawkins-Alarie-Bilas. On national signing day, Lynnwood Robinson was the more-heralded talent of Dean Smith’s class with Buzz Peterson and some guy named Jordan. Robinson ended up at Appalachian State.

Let me ask you this… who on that list became a star elsewhere? None of them! Only Bill McCaffrey saw much success at Vanderbilt. Who has left the 49er program and has seen success elsewhere? No one that I can recall or would you say Mike Gerrity’s numbers of 9.3 points, 39.6% shooting, 3.6 assists, 2 turnovers and 0.8 steals per game (12-10 record) classifies as success?

The point is that recruiting is not exact. Players may not develop, some can’t handle the academics or actually playing against real talent. The school may not be the right fit, some may be homesick or need to be closer home for family obligations. And coaches mis-read players’ potential, not to mention that schools will recruit a player in order to keep another school from getting him. Charlotte is not unlike most schools when it comes to players going elsewhere. LMAO!

Vincent Grier is the only one that I can think of who ended up having a real impact, while Travis Best and Kenny Whitehead were decent role players at their new schools. That’s about it. Of course, one of our most heralded recruits transferred and his numbers didn’t change at all though his new coach was supposed to prepare him for the big show (NBA)!

Anyway, interesting looking through some of the past rosters. There are names that I don’t even remember being on the team, much less that they transferred, dropped out of school, etc.

You are right CK.

This board is not very inviting. I’ve been here for years under different names. Some of the people are nice enough and know their Niner b-ball.

But others are idiots and jerks.

And then there’s Metro.

Seems he’d be happy to be the only one on the board. Bellowing his opinions into the canyon.

Truth - there are a lot of things you can complain about with Bobby. But this is not one of them. Nor is the jacking up 3s notion since this year we pretty much sent the ball inside. Aside from a one or two bad threes a game, which most teams shoot, the 3s were not a problem. Now rotation, defense, inbounding and other items are certainly on the table. Wake just is picking the wrong topic.
