Tyrell Lynch - 2007

Patterson it is, plays well for us.

Somewhat of a surprise, but Lynch commited to Auburn on 11/5. Will be interesting to see if Harmon goes there as well since they were one of the offers he had.

Lynch didn’t qualify for admission at Auburn and Jeff Goodman is reporting he may end up at Southern Miss.

As a walk-on!

Dang.

No more scholarships available this season.

I’m sorry I know they are in our conference but Umass, frikin Umass? You’ve got offers for scholarships from better schools and are drawing interest from GT and the cuse and you choose to walk on at Umass? Well it does kinda rhyme with dumbass. Look I know their program is pretty good but why go to a school with no scholarships, you can get exposure somewhere else, guess they got him a $1 lease on a hummer or something.

UMass just picked up Anthony Gurley from Wake Forest today, too.

In addition to Tyrell Lynch- Tony Gaffney (transfer from Boston U) and Sedale Jones bypassed schollies to walk-on at UMass. I think their coach is confused on the size of roster limits.

Why does everyone want to go to UMass? Calapari coming back, did camby buy everyone some ice, what is the deal, NCAA make yourself useful, oh right, A-10.

This should be good for us and the A10 as a whole!

Yea, notice the thread with his name on it. Everything has already been posted on him there.

Actually I didn,t but thanks for moving my thread. I feel a little better about the future of the program and the job Travis Ford is doing. A lot of people are picking us 11th in the A10, we will be better than that…Go UMass

UMass, doesn’t Coach Ford know there’s a limit on scholarships?!

Seriously, TF is getting it done in Amherst.

To get a 3 star player to come in as a walk-on is a VERY impressive feat. Congrats to you guys!

From the Springfield Repubilcan:

"We're assuming he's eligible until we hear otherwise," UMass coach Travis Ford said. "If he is, he could help us immediately, absolutely. He's a big-time recruit."

Lynch spent three years at Niagara Falls (N.Y.) High School, then prepped last year at Laurinburg (N.C.) Institute. In December of 2006, he signed a letter of intent with Auburn.

Eligibility issues sidetracked that plan, but according to Ford, they were not of Lynch’s making. He described the player as a victim of circumstances.

“His prep school is getting flagged,” by Southeastern Conference schools, who are shying away from its players, the UMass coach said.

“Tyrell has proven himself a good student,” Ford said. “He’s a terrific young man who is also a skilled basketball player, offensively with his shooting and defensively with his rebounding and shot-blocking. He reminds me of Jamal Mashburn, a former teammate of mine at Kentucky.”

Ford needs to check what his assistant is putting in his coffee. He's an A-10 coach and Lynch is an A-10 player. This means the NCAA Clearinghouse will undoubtedly refuse to clear him.

There is hope after Bill Clark was cleared for Duquesne.

BTW, by my count, this makes the 3rd A-10 recruit from Laurinburg over the past couple of seasons in which “red flags” have been raised. In addition to Lynch this season, also includes our own Phil Jones and Rhode Island’s Delroy James from 06-07. Hmmm…
