Slightly Stoopid/Rebelution on the 18th and My Morning Jacket on the 21st at TWC amphitheatre. Looking forward to those
I’m super stoked for Slightly Stoopid! They put on one of the best live shows ever when I saw them with Pepper at the Cocoabooth Amphitheater in Cary!
I talk with Slightly Stoopid’s manager fairly often. I recorded their set from Amos’ Southend back in February. Don’t have that show online yet but here is a show that he sent me from their las vegas show last year -http://www.archive.org/details/SS2010-06-25 quality is excellent on it. I saw Rebelution open for Umphrey’s McGee last year and they put on a great show as well.

I’ll be sure to make this one. Hopefully they’ll do some groupon package like with 311.

Will definitely be there for MMJ and Neko Case on the 21st.

Also thinking about Opeth and Katatonia on 9/29 at Amos’, but not sure what kind of crowd that will be. Hmmm…

That’s awesome stuff right there!!

I’ll be at the Sublime w Rome show tonight… maybe they’ll change it to 49oz to Freedom… ::slight_smile:

Pixies in Greensboro in November.

Fairies in Chapel Hill 24/7/365.

Amos’ is one of the worst sounding venues in the area in my opinion. Looking forward to the MMJ show though, just started listening to them recently. Only lawn seats are available so i’ll have to grab one here pretty soon

I second that thought. Finally went to a concert there last week and was extremely disappointed by the sound quality produced by the building

Yea, it’s a bar/club essentially, not a music theatre.

Amos’ was better before the renovations IMO. They knocked out walls to add capacity, but sacrificed the sound for it.

The Casbah at Tremont has some of the best acoustics I’ve played/seen shows at. The only problem is that it’s too small for some of these shows (cap is 350) and the larger stage (1000 cap) does not sound nearly as good.

No… not in Charlotte…

…but I leave in just a few hours!

WOOOOOOOOO!

Yes, I agree about the sound at Amos’. Anyway, MMJ show last night at TWC Uptown Amphitheatre was fantastic, even though shortened to a 15-song set (90 minutes) due to rain!

I ended up grabbing a 3rd row (behind pit) seat a few days ago, they must have released some close tickets cause a few friends grabbed some also. Where were you at? I was taping and i’ll have my recording posted tomorrow. Sounds pretty good

Hey Guys,

I was hoping for some advice. I haven’t been back to Charlotte for many years. I’m bringing my wife down for the Kenny Chesney concert. We are staying at the Drury Inn Nortlake and I was trying to figure out the best plan for getting to BOA for on Saturday. I was thinking of getting a day pass for the light rail and wondering if that would be best and if so, from which station should we plan to park and ride? I thought about maybe the campus station but don’t know what the parking situation is like there.

Northlake isn’t what it was. I can’t speak to the Drury, but it’s not a great area anymore. Most of the flagship businesses have moved to Concord Mills or Birkdale.

If you want to ride the light rail from that end - the campus stop would possibly complicate parking. I would just ride from the JW Clay station (across from the Marriott on campus). Should be sufficient parking and it’s the next to last stop so it won’t be crowded when you get on.

You’d probably want to get off at the Brooklyn Village stop. It’s just a few blocks to the stadium from there.

Have fun!
