My freshman year at Charlotte was 1977. It’s been all downhill from there…lol. I NEVER thought we could ever be as talented as that team. If we got VJ, along with Thorne, Lester and Ogbueze? That’s arguable. That would be amazing. I’m over 5 hours away and I might never miss a game…
Added an offer from Arizona.
Thorne Lester Ogbueze and King are not close to Kinch Massey and Maxwell, nowhere near it.

Kinch and Maxwell were both FIRST ROUND draft picks (Kinch a few years later, of course) and that was when the NBA had fewer teams than now. Massey is still the 2nd leading scorer in 49er history and would probably be the leading scorer if we had a 3 point line back then.
Numerous other coaches stated we had the most talented starting 5 in the country that year.
If we ever get a player of Maxwell’s caliber here again, that will be great. NBA Finals MVP is rare air.

Probably not, but is it not a little silly to say that without seeing Og play and King is still in HS?
Sometimes I just shake my head at the things posted on this board.[/quote]
Most definitely, but… It wasn’t just Maxwell that made that team. The other players were pretty damn good too. I’ll take ANY of the starters from that team.
Sadly, in today’s time, a couple of those players may have gone pro early.
What are the chances King would be a one-and-done? I think it would be lower than expected for someone of his caliber considering his grades and what sounds like a great family environment. Although a ton of other schools offered, we were first back when no one else knew who this kid was. That’s a powerful pitch sometimes. Scary to think about how good we could be with some of our younger guys being seniors and the transfers we have lined up if King were to decide to be a Niner. Scary.
Per Kline, has verbally committed to Louisville.
