We have a new chancellor

Holy Crap! http://www.bobleesays.com/RunScript.asp?page=45&Article_ID=525&AR=AR&p=ASP\~Pg45.asp

Your entire life since age 18 has been in a college campus environment. That, Doogie, is like living in Sleeping Beauty’s castle at Disney World. It ain’t real Doogie. It is fine when you are dealing with the dwarfs, munchkins, and assorted campus characters inside your collegiate theme park …. but as “The Chancellor” you must be able to relate to the great unwashed …. the untermensch …. the 100,000s of alums …. the Tar Heel lunatic fans …. the cold-bloodied thugs who kill the Eve Carsons …. the Jimmy Sextons …. the retirees that moved to Chapel Hill and hate “football game day traffic” …. the angry parents who’s Eagle Scout/Valedictorian son gets turned down by Admissions simply because of his race/gender - Caucasian male …. Oh and you must deal with “people who don’t see

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

If he’s half as dedicated to UNCCH as Dubois is, he’ll be a great chancellor.

I’ve actually read a little about this guy and he is pretty impressive, he’s a kenan professor, been a chem prof and head of the arts and sciences dept and holds 19 patents, at 43. Hopefully he can be more action less pomp and circumstance, although being a UNC homer he will probably hold the same center of the academic universe view.

I’m not on the “Chapel Hill Phil” bandwagon, but I am bothered by the “Who’s your daddy?” viewpoint of Tarheels, both with and without high school diplomas. I just sent the following email to the UNC Office of the President. I don’t expect serious consideration.

I just read the article about Holden Thorp in the Charlotte Observer (http://www.charlotte.com/breaking_news/story/623036.html) and am very impressed with the gentleman that is taking over the helm of the campus in Chapel Hill. I was however, somewhat confused by the title of the article. I realize that the UNC system does not have editorial control over the newspaper, but as a graduate of UNC at Charlotte I always cringe a bit when I see this mistake made.

While the university in Chapel Hill is a source of pride for all North Carolinians it is hardly the only one, nor would it be good policy for UNC to promote it as such. Clearly UNC-Chapel Hill has a historical claim to the UNC brand, but the people of NC made the decision 77 years ago to expand to include multiple campuses of the University of North Carolina. Allowing UNC-Chapel Hill to continue to co-opt the UNC brand in official ways, such as using the UNC.edu domain name makes it hard to argue with the media's misuse of what is in reality the name of the state's system of higher education.

As a graduate of one of the UNC universities, a regular donor to my alma mater, and a taxpayer in North Carolina, I would like to see UNC use its brand to support the system and not just one campus. I would like to see UNC take an affirmative approach to changing UNC-Chapel's use of a name that belongs to all of us. Only with leadership by your office will there ever be the change that respects the many, many graduates of the other 15 campuses of UNC.

Yes you are correct. If you get a response it will be full of douchebaggery.

As for this entire threads topic, its plain douchebaggery.
