We Need Mike Rice...

This is just my opinion, but we NEED Mike Rice of Robert Morris… That game against Nova was great and that guy has the passion we are looking for and he really gets the most out of his players. He focuses his recruiting around the Philadelphia area and along the East Coach, and it helps that he is from the Pittsburgh area. I know he doesn’t have any ties to the University, but everyone keeps saying we need a young(er), passionate coach who would really put us back on the map. I know Robert Morris is in the NEC, but he completely turned that program around. It may be a long shot but he seems like the right guy…

Mike Rice has done everything right in a very small conference.

He is a big risk for a conference like the Atlantic 10, but he also has the potential to pay off in a big way.

I think the risk of hiring an NEC coach will keep his price down and keep him from being nabbed by the Big East… and I really think that we need to capitalize.

Now, after digesting all of the candidates (I hope they are candidates) I think I would rather have him above all of the others. Avatar changed.

agreed. as much as a i like mike groce, i think the 7-9 record in the regular season scares me a little. hire mike rice.

Interviewed at Tulane today, with Ernie Kent and Ed Conroy; Tulane brings in three men’s basketball head coach candidates for campus tour and interviews today, New Orleans Times-Picayune

Could we keep our posts to coaches in the running for OUR job? We getting down to the final selection and this post is going back to people we have already ruled out.

I hope Mike Rice hasn’t been ruled out. He would be an excellent choice.

The thread had nothing to do withRice’s hiring or consideration. I thought this was after all the Coaching Carousel forum. I’m curious about all openings. But sure… no more about coaches from me here.

HP, I think you have earned the right to say just about anything that you want to say, when you want to say it!

You will notice I did not quote you or direct my response to you in any way. I thought this forum was about us needing Mike Rice, as shown above with the post that started it and I thought that conversation was over as far as our program is concerned. Please tell me where he is going if you want, as long as it is not here.

This is one of them. HP, you can tell me where coaches are going anytime, but more to the point maybe you should tell me where to go.

Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports reported on his twitter that Rice turned down Tulane.

Conroy from the Citadel take the Tulane job.
