Since Judy has stated that she would like a coach that has started a program that doesn’t leave many candidates. I know she has had many discussions with USF about how they started their program, and what helped them reach FBS level. Jim Leavitt would be the logical choice, but with his history of supposedly slapping a player would she do it? He is the MOST qualified of anyone having built USF from the ground up.
Also, Terry Bowden is a big time coach that has resurrected many programs. Went 11-0 at Auburn.
Those two are my first choices.

When are we going to get some leaks from the press??? Especially since Judy said she would like to have someone in place in the 30 days. They HAVE to have a short list now. Where is the CO on this???

The O is where they were in the basketball search - no where to be found. If they keep this as tightly controlled as they did the Major hire and the O is as lazy as they were then we won’t know anything until the announcement is made.

While Blank declined to delve into a pool of candidates, names have surfaced in connection with Elon’s vacancy.

Those include Duke assistant defensive coordinator Jim Collins, Wake Forest defensive coordinator Brad Lambert, South Florida offensive line coach Steve Shankweiler and William & Mary defensive coordinator Bob Shoop.

Duke’s Collins, an Elon alum and longtime Steve Spurrier disciple who’s in his third assistant coaching stop with the Blue Devils, campaigned for the Elon job during the school’s previous search. That was conducted by now-retired athletics director Alan White and eventually turned up Lembo in December 2005.

Likewise, Wake Forest’s Lambert interviewed at Elon in 2003 before the Phoenix picked Paul Hamilton as its coach in what became a failed two-season stay. Lambert, a 10-year member of Wake Forest’s staff, didn’t return a cell phone message left by the Times-News on Thursday night.

Shankweiler coached the offensive line at East Carolina during three stints covering a total of 15 seasons. The last of those ended after the 2009 season, when he left to continue working under Skip Holtz at South Florida.

Shoop, the brother of North Carolina offensive coordinator John Shoop, has served as William & Mary’s defensive coordinator for four years, helping the Tribe become a perennial playoff participant in the Football Championship Series.

Completely untrue. Remember when they had the breaking news article of Larry Shyatt and Dave Odom? it was such a scoop, our own AD had no idea about it!
