Well Thur night is huge

I agree its not pretty but weā€™ve turned that corner. We are finding ways to win games that earlier this year we would have lost.

Memphis handed that game to Louisville on a silver platter.

We get little turnaround time in the upcoming tournaments as well. Maybe Bobby can analyze next Saturdayā€™s performance after the short turn around to get some valuble insight for the tournaments.

Bobby did win the Bobby Lutz Invitational one year in four straight.

Hey, if we have trouble with USF this year, Eddie will just have to have another show stopping dunk and bring us back.

I think the extra day off this week (i.e. not playing Wednesday) will benefit Mitch, as he will be the key against Louisvilleā€™s pressure. I look for him to keep pressure on Dean on both ends of the floor and hopefully wear Dean down. We keep Dean in check and the Niners prevail 81-74 good guys.

Glad to see the confidence going into Thursday. I am very curious to see how we respond. I am reminded that while we did win against Memphis, Depaul, and Cincy in our building that all of them had a chance to win or tie at the end.

However, wins like those build confidence. Anyone who thinkā€™s Freedom Hall wonā€™t be loud and excited on Thursday night is crazy (nice try Card fan but I am not going to buy that bs about your buidling). They remember last year and furthermore they know the importance of this game. We will get the very best for them as we have from Depaul and Memphis. I hope we can find a way to win on the road the same we have been able to find a way to win at home.

Our ability to defend the perimeter and rebounding wii be the difference. Offensively, we are playing with more confidence and consistancy then I can remember. But I do not want to have to out score them on their home floor.

Kind of hard for us to win the game if that doesn't happen. :P

Okay first I would like to say that I smell a cat fanā€¦

WIth that saidā€¦

  1. The comments about Freedom Hall being dead and not loud, well I hope a few of you on here get to come to Louisville for the game, this game will have a crazy atmosphere just like when kentucky plays here and will probably be one of the loudest arenas you have ever watched a basketball game inā€¦

  2. I would probably prefer us to be playing you all on the road becuase we seem to play better when we feel like the world is against us, but I donā€™t see us coming out flat like we have a few home games becuase this game has so much riding on itā€¦

  3. You all are a very good team, but I sense some of you all are a little over confident, we a veteran team that has been tested all season long, it will be very difficult for you all to win in our house with so much on the lineā€¦

With that said, I canā€™t wait until Thursdayā€¦

Can you believe I have to take a midterm before the game? Man Iā€™m gonna be driving like a manaiac over to Freedom Hall

Yeah, I worry about how wet behind the ears we are. Take a look at our starters:

F Curtis Withers - Jr, 3 year starter
F Eddie Basden - Sr, 4 yr starter
G Brendan Plavich - Sr, 2 yr starter (+2 yrs at Vandy)
G Mitchell Baldwin - (RS)Jr, 1st yr starter, 2 yr 6th man
C Martin Iti - So, 2yr starter

Bench:

EJ Drayton - Jr, Chirs Nance - Jr, Leemire Goldwire -Fr

One frosh and one sophomore in our 8 man rotation. Way too green to challenge a veteran team. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking forward to an all out war.

Well, Cards posters are better behaved than the fans of those teams ā€œLeft Behindā€ (Memphis, UAB), fsquid a notable exception. At least they seem to think through their positions, erroneous though they areā€¦

EJ Drayton is going to be a (not the, a) difference maker again.
When really need him to keep playing at the level heā€™s been playing at.
I like that he can rebound well in traffic (and he put on back yesterday!!!) and also has a big advantage when he has the ball on the perimeter. If heā€™s on, look out.

EJ has really blossomed into an invaluable weapon for us. He's tough to defend, can score inside/outside and has become a really good defensive player. I agree that he'll be a big part of our success on Thursday and in the postseason as well. When both he and Curt on the court together, we're very dangerous.

Let's not get too carried away, he got abused in the post yesterday at times.

Martin was big defensively last night. EJ is better than he was by leaps and bounds, but he gets beat by solid post players frequently.

We need Martin to do what he did last night, stay on his feet and keep his hands straight up, block shots from guards attacking, and keep defensive position. Thatā€™s all he needs to do. Nance is a great defender, but he doesnā€™t have the reach Martin has, and if we want to go deep, weā€™ll need a big game from Martin at least once.

Thatā€™s more along the lines of what I was implying but Iā€™m content with his defense. He has a few breakdowns each game but I still think weā€™re a better team when heā€™s on the court, particularly on offense.

ā€œbut I sense some of you all are a little over confidentā€

A little? They wonā€™t be when the Ville sends them crashing back to reality.

Still a bit jaded from the loss we handed you?

I doubt Louisville is going to post a shutout. Just a hunch.

And this may be the last time the niners ever enter Freedom Hall.... Is this also senior day at Louisville??

I was at Freedom Hall for a few Metro tourneys and even with a large # of opposing fans, Freedom Hall was a great bball environment. It may not be Cameron Indoor but Iā€™d have to think itā€™s one of the top 15 homecourts in college bball
