UNC Charlotte have added a great recruiting class but with maybe 2 additional positions or players they could find their self having the chance to bring the A-10 title home next year.
They have a diamond in the rough player Demario Mayfield which with his progress and what talent I have seen from Demario he will be the best player on the UNC Charlotte team and will take pressure off Derrio and free him to shoot threes all day. in which will also provide pressure of Chris Braswell because the threat of Derrio and Demario penetrating. E. Victor Nikerson will love the same thing that Demario will provide threat to other Teams, size, penetration, and a deadly shot. Chris is very seasonal and plays dominate sometimes, but will need to bring more aggressiveness in his post play to help make his team a dominate force in the A-10 he has the talent but will he bring it every night. with the add of Pierra Henry, Terrence Williams, it bring them scorers off the bench in which they want lose anything when Derrio comes out the game, or when Demario or E. Victor comes out. Mike Thorne is a good addition to there post game which was something they really needed to add for this year due to limited of post players last year.
Now what can they do to become a complete team before signing period is over, my opinion I would go after Joseph Uchebo in which decommitted from NC State my opinion, and I would offer Glenn Patterson Jr. PG from Red Springs, NC in which was being considered for the scholarship to replace Larry Drew at North Carolina in which was offer to Stillman White, he also had interest from Clemson, Virginia, in which they inform they was needing bigger guards due to having other smaller guards on there roster… UNC Charlotte would fit perfect they already have bigger guards and would add Glenn in which he have unlimited 3 point range, and also lighting bolt speed in which his play is like Kemba Walker.
I think them additions could have UNC Charlotte in the NCAA Tournament, theres an document attached giving more information… Let’s hear comments

Thanks for the correction, will update it… was in a hurry to post the document which was attached but didn’t want to post it without an explanation of my opinion. Thanks again.

???
I don’t think he’s a gimmick poster, he is just a big fan of Glenn Patterson Jr., who seems like a pretty good player. I just don’t know that there’d be room at the moment for Patterson, as we need post players more than anything. I would think he could earn a scholarship somewhere else, but I wonder if he’d consider being a walkon at Charlotte (if the coaches went along with it).
Even with adding a bigtime post prospect, winning the A10 next year is pretty unlikely, unless all these newcomers are quite a bit better than their hype and all the returning players really step up their games. Xavier and Temple are both going to be really good (assuming Holloway comes back).
I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but putting the lack of a need at PG in this recruiting class aside, strictly based on his size I don’t see him getting an offer from this coaching staff. Clearly there is a movement away from that size PG with Major, with Briscoe being an exception to that, based on his performance.
They may welcome him as a walk-on, if that is a situation that works for Glenn. Maybe even a Trevin Parks situation, I really felt he deserved a scholarship and his performance this year at JCSU indicates that as well.
With that said, I liked the suggestions of big men for the staff to get after, seems like we are out of the running for about 5-6 guys we were looking at.

I don’t know your defenition of “pretty unlikely” but I’d put it at around 20%. I think our starting five is pretty solid. Deuce, Green, JB, KJ, Braz, we’ve seen good things out of all of them, the added depth and hopefully some freshmen steping up and playing big minutes we should be at least in the top half of the league. (I’ll take of my green tinted glasses now)

I’d rather the team surprise me.
I think we’ll see good things from our incoming players next year, but like any team with so many new faces, we’ll have a lot of issues to overcome as well.
No way Thorne is ready, ready big men don’t get 2 star ratings. Phil was a pretty highly recruited big man and he wasn’t ready even after a redshirt year. Pretty much have to get a Juco big man to give us minutes if we want to make any noise next year.
I think we should be looking at the best available juco big man and then try to land a transfer. Unless somebody like Uchebo falls into our lap, we aren’t getting an impact HS guy at this point.
Returning players + incoming freshmen + Mayfield + serviceable big man = hope for a .500 record in conference and 15+ wins (depending on our OOC schedule) which would be a huge success for us at this point.

Agree. 15 to 17 wins is a significant improvement and anything north of 18 wins would be a pleasant and welcome surprise. We will have some youthful mistakes because freshman could be seeing significant minutes but I expect JB, KJ and Braswell to really step up and take command of this team next year. If our guard play is somehow serviceable, we could be a decent squad. Just too many unknowns at this point. We don’t even have 5 OOC games on our schedule yet (that we know about).
Had pretty much the same rating as Thorne has on ESPN. What makes me sick is Whiteside grew up in our backyard.
That’s a good point, I didn’t realize ESPN had him rated so high, I thought he was a 2* guy on most sites. There are exceptions, but everything I’d heard about Thorne is that he just started showing his potential this year and will be a project that could pay off big time in 2 or 3 years. Hopefully he’s further ahead of that schedule.
