For those that aren’t familiar with Pfeiffer, I’ve seen us play them a few times, and here is my take. They are very small, but are incredibly deep, and play extremely hard on the defensive end. Our post players should have no problem, but Dijuan, Ian, Dewhurst, and Coleman better not expect this to be a walk in the park.
I know many on here are going to expect this to be a blowout simply because they are DII, but really don’t be surprised if we are only up by a shot or two at the half (I think last time we played them, we were only up by 9 at the half). I’m still expecting a 20+ point win, but these guys get after it and play a style similar to the UAB teams we faced in CUSA. They are a revolving door of subs and really get in your face.
My prediction: Niners up by 6 at the half, but go on to win 84 to 58
They basically play 5 guards on the floor, including one 6’5 rebounder - a poor man’s Eddie or Wilderness. They play very high pressure, uptempo, and shoot a lot of 3’s - it’s the same style Lutz coached.
They will be an absolute pain for our thin backcourt. I’d expect them to have at least a few first half leads. If we figure out how to handle their pressure, we will blow them out with our bigs. If we can get Phil, Coley & Mack the ball, they’ll dominate - but we have to get it to them first - and Phil is gonna have to run the court if he wants the ball.
It would be awesome if we could get a lead and force a slower tempo on them. I’d take it as a success if we were able to exert our will on them.
Gave up over 50% field goal percentage. Can’t remember too many of those games, hopefully we’ll start off with one. Seems like they like to score (over 90/game). Should be fun to watch. Looking forward to it.
