Another 4 years? If that turned out to be the case, I would be highly upset.
I really feel awful for fans in their mid 20s or younger. In the past 25 seasons (a quarter century!) Charlotte finished below .500 exactly four times. The first time happened in 2003 (known then as âthe season we shall never speak ofâ) and was in the middle of a 9 NCAA tournament run over a 13 season stretch. The other 3 times happened very recently with this past season holding the honorable distinction of being the worst in a full quarter-century.
So something that was once unheard of - finishing with 10-14 wins - is now unsurprising.
If we arenât back in the mix for an NCAA bid in the next 2 seasons, we hired the wrong guy.

Who gets to the Big Dance firstâMajor or Lutz? Not apples to apples, but should be fun to watch.

Not saying we need a bid, just need to be in the conversation againâŚ
I think some of you are setting yourselves up for a major disappointment.
It is going to take some time.

I agree, our program has been run into the ground. Weâve gotta build it back up.

If it takes more than 3 years, you are doing it wrong.
way to lower those expectations!

good to have you back, metro
Year after next should be very good. We have three big sopohomores with lots of potential. Hopefully, over the next couple of years we will see why Major has a reputation for developing big guys.
We also have three guards who are sophomores. Two years from now we will (at least should) be a senior laden team. Add to the mix this years recruiting class, which by tournament time will have 2 years experience, and one or two contributing freshmen and 2013 will be the year of the ball.

I think this is a fair assessment. Next year could be good, but the year after should be.
Next year or else I jump off a bridge. >:D
Wait, really? Can I pick the bridge?

From the not so distant past when Niner BB wasnât as bleakâŚ

PS: I want to follow up my own post - Propose a nostalgia thread on past successful Niners years (say CUSA days) so those who have not seen good Niner BB can understand the Niners really did play some pretty dang good BB not all that long ago. Someone started this at one time and maybe itâs time to revive it. Maybe just go year-by year through CUSA era?

NCAAs in year 3 is a must.
2013 ncaa tournament
2014 a win or two in the dance
before the 14-15 season, Major gets hired by a school from an AQ conference
2008-09, 16-14
2009-10, 14-17
2010-11, 27-5, 13 consecutive wins
Just to be optimistic, think of the Long Island Blackbirds. Some of you may remember they played in Halton over the holidays during the 2008-09 season. The 49ers won that game 79-68 and LIU finished with a 16-14 record.
They defeated Robert Morris last night, 85-82 in overtime to win the Northeast Conference tournament championship.
Can it be done? Yes. Will it be done?
