i would say this site has 1/3 anti lutz 1/3 pro lutz and 1/3 in the middle personal opinion what i feel the board is like --the daxified one
So, let’s figure out what the real percentages are.

i am in favor of lutz
i lean anti, i think he has done some good stuff, but his time is over, and there is no sign of promise.
i am in favor of lutz
Are you in favor of him because you think he’s a good coach, or because you think no one better is available at the moment?

i think he is a decent coach. he’s had a lot of success with our program and only has 2 bad seasons in 9 years. 5 ncaa tourney appearances and i think 1 NIT maybe 2 can’t remember NIT appearances.
I think he is the man for the job for at least one more year. I want to see what he can do since he figured out to recruit based on style of play and not accolades.
On a side note, I think we are all jumping off the deep end here. I don’t remember who mentioned it or where, but someone said earlier that this is a personal business move by going to Alabama. Whether he is interested or not, it’s best not to burn bridges. He knows his contract is set to end soon. Let’s not look like KSU fans. Of course differense is they actually know what a chicken looks like running around with it’s head chopped off.
Coach Lutz has had a few hard years. Hes a great coach, but has had to deal with some tough issues.
A few NCAA decisions that seemed unfair to me …a conference change …and a few bad breaks. He will come out fine in the future. I will always be a supporter of coach Lutz at Charlotte or elsewhere. He is a very very bright coach with extreem passion for his work. He will show up in the winners circle …in a few years no matter where he is coaching.
I hate to ride the fence but I’m in the middle. I mean I like Coach Lutz (he’s an alumni, a considerable good coach, good family man) but I’m tired of the same old thing. All we do is jack-up threes and then make excuses about losing to a less-than-stellar team. I just feel that we can’t find another guy of his caliber. I mean who else is out there? What do you guys think? Maybe Lutz is just burnt out and it’s showing. I don’t know.

the fact he had to figure that out worries me considerably.
i’m the 1/3 that says he can stay another year but there better be marked improvement in our conference play.

Realities such as what you stated make me anti-Lutz, however, IMO, this is the worst possible time for a coaching search to take place.
Also, I do think there is a chance that Lutz will make Halton Arena more exciting next season.
Therefore, I’m in the middle…at this time.
Interesting, the pro-Lutz crowd outnumbers the ant-Lutzers and fence sitters combined. That surprises me, with all the haters- -err, excuse me, “realists” we have on this board.
Count me in as pro-Lutz.
I hate our style of play over the last 2 years, but I am in favor of him living out his contract and trying to turn things around with his incoming class. I dont’ want to lose the recruits we have now because I feel they have quite a bit of potential.

That’s the same way I feel about. Things have not clicked the past 2 years, 1 year to show progress and 2 years to turn it around, and I like all of the new guys coming in. Not the time for a change.
But I think after the 2 years, he will look for a change. Either a school like South Alabama if we stay around .500 or a jump to a BCS school if we’re back to being a NCAA caliber team.
I guess the question should be, Does Lutz support Charlotte?
Pro-lutz for the same reasons as Dax mentioned at the beginning of the thread. Also, potentially losing the recruits we have if Bobby leaves way more than if we have another year like this past season.
I’m on the fence, I think its good to have an alum, and he obviously knows something, cause he has had a great deal of sucess. But the steady decline we have had over the past 3 seasons has really made me lose faith in him. Ideally though, I want him to turn things around, and make all of us look like idiots for doubting him. Fact of the matter is, the pressure is on him to turn things around, and he doesnt have much time to do it. I am against another contract extention until he proves he can turn this thing back around. But I also recognize that there really isnt a long line of great coaches waiting for the Charlotte job.
but this is the second year in a row he’s “lobbying for another job”. That plays hell on recruiting and puts a stigma on our program. Where’s the loyalty? There’s no reason to do that now, nor was there last year. He has a nice CONTRACT for well into 6 figures. If he DESERVES a contract extension he would get one. We have provided him with a wonderful living, at his Alma Mater with which he now thumbs his nose at…well Bobby, so did Wat, and where is he now?
Bobby HAS to go now…any recruits from now on will be subject to second guessing from competing recruiters. That can’t be stopped. He’s blaming the A-10 on losing Beasley. Beasley wasn’t coming here for you, Lutz. He was coming because of Dalonte. Your going to another conference won’t change that. If USA is stupid enough to give you and your ego a multi-year contract, TAKE IT. Good Riddance.
Yeah, I guess that is the question. I mean you always assume that Lutz will stay here forever. When you think of Charlotte 49er basketball, you think Coach Lutz. I never thought in a million years that we’d have this topic. Just as long as we don’t do what State did and run Sendek out of town.

This isn’t the second year in the row. UT was 3 years ago. Last year he was approached by search groups for Iowa St and KSU. He said he wasn’t interested. I think it’s a little different now just because he doesn’t have the extension…BUT this is NOT the time for him to move if he’s wanting to move. He needs to turn it around and I hope it happens, then he gets what he needs to stay here. BUT he must WIN BIG in the A-10. It can’t be used as an excuse.
Bobby Lutz is a great person, a friend of the school and I would like to see him stay on in some role, just not coach. Many of you are loyal to him and I can respect that. It is a valid opinion. However, I can’t believe all the people who have the “how will we ever replace him?” attitude. When he goes, he will be replaced by a better coach from outside the school. That guy, our basketballl messiah, will enlighten us all about the values of good defense and the two point play.
